We chanced upon this interesting noodle stall while shopping at nearby HDB shops. What caught our attention was their signboard that says “ Handmade noodles, no preservatives and take away noodles will not be soggy “

We ordered the dried version of the noodles with chillie sauce. It comes with a bowl of soup and some boiled wanton in it. Besides that, we also found another two fried wantons placed on top of the noodles. Wow! The noodles are unlike those found in most stalls. They were not springy or soggy but just soft and easy to swallow. Their special sauce was sweet and has no taste of sambal or dried prawns. Coupled with a few pieces of fried pork lard, the whole plate of noodles was yummy. Next, we tried the soup. True to their words, it does not have any taste of preservatives.

Overall, we agreed that the attracting factor is the secret sauce. We even ordered one take away dried noodles to determine whether it will be soggy or lumpy. Again, their point was proven right when our friends tried it after 3 hrs and it tasted the same as ours.

We also understand that they have other outlets in Bedok, Hereen and OG Complex.

Wah!! So long queue.... That was our reaction when we decided to check out this place. This famous stall has achieved many good reviews from newspapers to TV foodie programmes that we die die must try it.

After waiting for about half an hour, we finally got to taste it.
The first mouthful was indeed delicious. The fried noodles was full of traditional flavour. Its taste has brought us fond memories of our young days where our mothers would bring our own eggs to be added as eggs were considered luxury ingredients.

Each plate comes with a mixture of two types of noodles, beansprouts, chives, sausages, cockles and yeap, crispy fried pork lard. This unhealthy item ( but played a major part ) is so crispy and freshly fried that once you bite them, it is oooh...

The noodles are fried with such high heat and observing how the old man controlled the frying technique was enough to confirm that the wait was worth it.

Give this place a try if you are craving for it. But be prepared to wait as good food always command a big crowd

Teochew food lovers!! Numerous traditional dishes from our childhood are here. We tried the kway chup with braised ducks, eggs, bean curds, preserved vegetables and pig trotters. Must comment that all are delicious just like home-cooked food.

The cafe also served porridge with steamed seabass, braised sea cucumber with fish maw and stir-fried prawns.

We were almost full when one of the staff asked us whether we are interested to try their freshly made yam paste with ginko nuts. My friends immediately commented that this is not a Teochew buffet if this famous dessert is not available.

Each of us took a small portion and believe us, it is simply heaven. The yam paste was smooth and has a very distinctive flavour. Coupled with the slightly sweetened ginko nuts, it is a perfect match.

When we were about to leave, the same staff directed us to their signature durian station where customers can feast on freshly opened durians. If eating with hands are messy, then try their nonya durian dessert.

Price is on the high side, average about $40 per person for buffet dinner but with such wide range of dishes to sample in small portions, it is worth while to give this place a try.

With some many laksa stalls in Singapore, one would wonder whether the original and famous one is still around.

We did some checking and were told that the original stall has shifted to the present location since late 2006. Surprisingly, the stall was not crowded.

When our orders were served, the only cutlery was a spoon. My friend was about to request for a pair of chopsticks when we saw a group of senior citizens busily scooping their noodles from the bowls. Then did we realised that the laska served here is best sampled with one SPOONFUL of thick beehoon, beansprouts, honemade fish cakes, cockles and the spicy gravy at one time.

The stall owner has cut up the noodles as it is not possible to lift the beehoon with chopsticks and slurped the gravy separately. We also understand that in those days when the push cart stall was at Sungei Road, there were hardly any tables or seats available. Customers will have to eat while standing by the roadside.

The difference seem to lie in the making of gravy. It is less thick and not so creamy in coconut milk but have a unique spicy sambal added to it. The gravy is cooked using charcoal which will bring out the flavour of all the ingredients.

We finished every drop of the gravy and left the place with no regrets.

Decent price of $6/- for a sizeable plate of fish and chips. I think that’s pretty cheap with generous amount of fries and fresh coleslaw.

As claimed by the owner, all food are prepared only when ordered by customers. So dory fish not fried and salad not mixed until an order is accepted. Hmm.. this maybe the explanation why the long waiting time especially during peak hours.

We ordered their famous fish & chips, Italian pork sausage and Australian rib-eye steak ( which was very well marinated and served with few bottles of various sauces to compliment the steak ).

Service was considered good since we were eating at a coffee shop. The staff were friendly, attentive and very professional like the ones working in restaurants.

Cutlery are nicely placed in front of you and when they served the food, they take the trouble to ask and served it personally if it was your order.

They even noticed my young niece and came back with an extra smaller plate and a set of cutlery for my niece to share the food. All that was done without us asking for a spare plate!

Well, prices are justifiable considering the big portion of food served. We will definitely come back again.....
