Hi Tea @ Coffee Lounge comes with Local Food. It starts from 2.45 - 5.00pm. Range of food includes things like fried spring roll, carrot cake, nonya kueh, soon kueh, kueh pie tee, laksa, tau suan, curry, Otah, Roti Jala, fruits, cream cakes, MovenPick ice cream & Coffee / Tea.
Service is good and the place is nice and quiet. Good place for people who enjoy local food. Quality of food is not bad too. I enjoyed the Laksa, Kueh Pie Tee & the Roti Jala.
White Rose Cafe is currently having their annual Penang Hawkers' Fare from 7 to 23 March for both lunch and dinner.
Went there for lunch on a weekday afternoon. The place was quite crowded but service was very prompt. We were seated immediately. They do not take reservations. We were required to pay at the desk in advance. $23 for lunch / dinner.
The food was self-serve, buffet. There were a total of 10 different hawker fares including delicious Char Kway Teow, flavourful Penang Prawn Mee, tangy Penang Laksa, crispy Lor Bar, Penang Rojak, Cuttlefish Kangkong, Prawn Omelette, Kway Teow Soup, creamy Ice Kachang & Chendol and Ban Chang Kueh.
The Penang Laksa and prawn noodles were wonderful. So were the rest. I only found the Char Kway Teow rather dull. Not exciting at all.
The servings at each stall were really small and they limit each person to 2 plates each time. It was quite a hassle to keep going back.
Visited the Old Town White Coffee outlet at Big Splash on a weekday late morning. The cafe was not crowded. Stepped into the cafe, service was not very prompt. We looked for a place to sit and no one came up to us with the menu. I went ahead to get the menu from the service counter. Ordering was done through a chit that was placed at every table. We ordered the Old Town white coffee (both hot and cold), toast and curry chicken with toast. It took us a while to get the attention of the waitresses. Five minutes later, the waitress came back to inform us of the items that were not available. We had to replace our curry chicken with toast. The drinks took a long time, and came seperately. The toast was not exactly hot off the stove, a little cold, considering the fact that it was just made. Ten minutes later, another waitress then came back to tell us that our 2nd choice of curry chicken with sticky rice, was also not available. We gave up.
The hot coffee was quite average. Nothing spectacular. Same for the cold. The toast was below average.
Service was bad. The waitresses don't seem to speak / understand English very well.

Service is good and the place is nice and quiet. Good place for people who enjoy local food. Quality of food is not bad too. I enjoyed the Laksa, Kueh Pie Tee & the Roti Jala.
