I've visited the Hougang outlet mostly once a year when my juicer starts giving problems.
While I didn't have much to complaint about, I noticed that the staff who were assigned there didn't seemed very enthusiastic in serving customers.
The manager/ supervisor is slightly more attentive while the other staff were lazing around or some of them gave me the impression that they were not mentally alert i.e. blurr. I recalled that my hubby & myself had to probe them a few times before they got things done.
And last year, they made a mistake in handing us the wrong documents for an appliance bought (we took up some extended warranty plan) & we spotted it when we were about to leave the mall.
We went back to the store & the manager got things rectified & apologised. At least, they apologised. But I wouldn't rate their service as fantastic, it was jux average with room for improvement.
I've visited the boutique several times this year and the sales reps were very helpful with a smiley face even though I wasn't decked up in branded goods.
And I recalled calling the boutique on the day of their staff dinner & dance, where upon this sales rep who picked up the phone tried to assist me in my enquiry until she had to politely inform me that she needs to close the shop for the day as it was their annual event. And whether it was alright for me to drop by the following day to show them a picture of the Bebe dress that I was enquiring about.
Her tone of voice was really smiley & she's very courteous. well-groomed too!
But I observed that some of the latest Bebe apparel wasn't as readily available to Singapore as compared to the USA. So sometimes, when I changed my mind about not buying them in the USA, I might jux not find them in Singapore or maybe only seeing in our local store many months after.
Other than this minor complaint, the service was rated as good for me :)
I'm a user of Phyto items w/out any supervision since I was 15 years old.
Of late, I visited the spa & had been harassed by a consultant who pressurized me into signing on in-salon treatment packages.
Even after being told repeatedly that I wasn't based in S'pore most of the time & had very sensitive, oily scalp with prickly itch, she insisted that I use up the package before I leave S'pore in 2 weeks time - it didn't make sense at all becox this seems like a money-grabbing opportunity for the salon & might not be advisable for my scalp.
She didn't give me a systematic explanation on the products that she sold to me & kept hard-selling packages to me throughout the consultation. When I called her at the salon for further clarifications, she said that she didn't understand my questions. What was worse is that condescending tone of voice that was unacceptable in the service industry. I paid the owner a courtesy call but nothing came out of it. All she said was the salon is very busy & to check with the Creative Director. No apologies, nothing.

edenstrausssaid: I haven't given up on the brand Phyto becox it's a very good brand so the salon treatments shd work wonders for those who hv the time 19 Nov 2008 at 5:05 pm
Barbettesaid: that's horrible service! And it's supposed to be a high-end salon so Y is it positioned as a low-end like Yunnan who hardsells all the time & get nasty when a NO is given? 22 Nov 2008 at 11:42 am
Barbettesaid: actually my sis permed her hair there this year & the results weren't that great for town-site salons becox her hair has seen better days when it was done at other hair salons @ toa payoh. 22 Nov 2008 at 11:48 am
After my first visit to Judy Koh from Backstage recently, I must admit that she has a gift with the scissors & hair.
After the hair cut, I had been mistaken for a Japanese/ Korean. Her cutting was swift, precise & fast – and a Midas touch of gold! Her haircut simply made me look like I cost a million bucks.
Prior to visiting her, my hair was in a terrible shapeless mess of frizz after a bad perm job at a HDB salon. No matter how hard I tried styling my hair, it looked like I was wearing a frizzy puffball ontop of long straight hair. It was as if I was wearing an octopus on top of my head!
And I was pleasantly surprised how my hair turned out after the haircut! It was fabulously chic and made me so pretty. I was even stopped by Japanese/ Korean tourists who spoke to me in their native language as they've mistaken me for one of their own. So that suggested how well she's done for my hair & I'm extremely pleased with her skills.
spindoctorsaid: Thanks for review. Will surely visit if I want to be mistaken for korean. :) 17 Nov 2008 at 12:20 pm

Jeslyn Teesaid: how is the price? 18 Nov 2008 at 6:27 pm
edenstrausssaid: Hi Jeslyn, I paid SGD 125 but I'm not sure if the pricing would be adjusted. U might want to consider a package with the salon as it works like a pre-paid card; shd be cheaper :) 19 Nov 2008 at 5:03 pm
Beckteriasaid: haha.. tts an interesting review. is the price high cos its Judy? have you tried the svc by more junior hairstylists? 11 Sep 2009 at 6:24 pm

I visited the Whitesands outlet yesterday to browse for a high-waisted belt and the service wasn't great at all.
The salesgirls would hard-sell the product even though it doesn't match my dress at all. And when I told them that I would think about it and thank you, the sales girl was trying very hard not to snap at me. Their faces were so sour & looooong...
The Hougand Mall outlet: wasn't interested in serving me when I was garbed casually in T-shit, bermudas & flip-flops. I subsequently ventured in a second time, but branded all over in LV, Gucci & Chanel with my hair all done up as a high-society belle. And guess what? I was served like a queen right till my exit out of the shop even though I didn't purchase anything from the store!
What makes these sales girls think that only tai-tai are good enough for their boutiques? They're not even from the high-end fashion industry!!! I supposed that their attitude & selling techniques stem from the company's work culture.
