Went to try Nihon Mura - one of the newest sushi conveyer belt player in Singapore - Nihon Mura which happens to be a subsidiary of Suki Sushi!

I find the decoration is rather nice. It is rather spacious too as one would not have problem walking in the wide walking space. We were directed to a lucky table number, table number 88!! As it was our first visit to Nihon Mura, the waiter took some time to explain how Nihon Mura functions, there is no menu but one can walk around the restaurant and look at the display photos and price of the food, if interested you could take one of the marked ice-cream stick from the respective food and return to your table.

Placing the ice-cream sticks into the ice-cream stick holder, the waiters or waitresses will take your orders by taking over the marked ice-cream sticks. When your order is ready, the food would be served to your table by the waiters or waitresses. Quite innovative and troublesome to walk around. Nevertheless, you could still take your favorite sushi from the conveyer belt at $0.99 each! Woah, cheap but it seems that these sushi had been on the conveyer belt for quite some time, thus they are not really fresh but they do taste good!

When come to the food that we ordered via the ice-cream sticks, they were not bad lor, comparable to Sakae Sushi and Yuki Sushi, prices are close too but some item's price can be quite a huge difference.

It was yet another fulfilling dinner ..... sashimi yummy, wasabi shiok shiok!

I seldom take Italian food, thus when the invitation from Bobo came to try out the latest Etna Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria along Upper East Coast Road last weekend, I agreed almost immediately.

It was my first time meeting Bobo and I also managed to meet fellow yebbers like feizhu, andy and susan. Let's take a look at what we had ordered! Let's Mangia (eat!!)

      Bruschetta
      > I think get to taste all of them as we assigned ourselves to one each, I took the tomato one and the tomatoes are very fresh!! Yummy!

Garlic bread (6 pieces) - Toasted bread
      > Quite bad because it's cold and hard, I meant really very hard!

Quattro Stagioni - Tomato, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, artichokes, cooked ham, olives
      > The pizza is very nice, the crust is also not hard! Very good and yummy!!

Insalata di Gamberi - Rocket salad with prawns, dressed with extra virgin olive oil
      > This is very nice, the tomatoes are sweet and juicy. The prawns are fat and juicy! Eat already, bon appetit!!!

Bistecca al Gorgonzola - Grilled rib-eye steak with gorgonzola cheese in a light cream sauce
      > the steak is nice, although it tasted like medium rare than medium which we ordered! the light cream does not fit my taste.

Taglierini al Pesto di Bronte - Homemade pasta in a Sicilian pesto sauce (with pistachio from Bronte in Sicily)

Torta al Cioccolato - Chocolate cake
      > What can be said, it tasted like chocolate cake!!

Tiramisu al Pistacchio - Tiramisu with pistachio flavour (from Bronte in Sicily)
      > Tasted okay for me, as I'm no cake lover thus I could not comment how it stand, but feizhu seems to think otherwise! I like the green 'thing' as I think it tasted like pork floss!
      > Nothing special, tasted very normal! ^-^"

      Panna Cotta
      > This tasted nice, yummy! It seems not enough for all of us!!

The restaurant is nicely decorated that provide a good dining atmosphere and good customer service from the staffs!

Overall, it's a good experience dining with the yebbers whom provides good company. Glad to meet all of you! Cin cin (cheers!)

Went to try out Charcoal at Station Kitchen, St. James Power Station. As I had called and booked a table for two several days ago, but when we entered Charcoal, my name was not in sight on their booking list. Nevertheless as we were early and it's yet dinner time, we managed to get a table.

The restaurant is high-class decorated and there are 2 different kind of tables, namely the normal table and the other as shown in the photograph above which require the customer(s) to take off their foot wear. The waitress came to give us the menu and gave a short introduction of how their system work. Upon looking at the menu, ala carte menu seems to be pricey and we ordered the Moriwasen set which is priced at $58.00! The Moriwasen set consist of more meat whereas the other sets had other variety like seafood, which is more pricey!

After we had ordered, a traditional mini-stove was brought to our table. The fire is controlled by opening and closing of the small window!

Moriwasen set consist of 3 different meat, mushroom, 2 veggies and a japanese rice in green tea! we need to BBQ the meat on the small wire mesh, but the fire is (indeed) strong thus the meat got over-cooked rather fast, it tends to stick to the wire mesh too! Most of the time, we are eating a bit 'chao ta' meat! The veggies and mushroom were too raw that the veggies and mushroom also ended up onto the wire mesh. Indeed, they do tasted better after being BBQ-ed!

We seems to be struggling in our dinner while the rest of the customer seems to enjoy their BBQ dinner. Business for the Charcoal also seems brisk! The waitress also took a long time (almost 10 minutes) to settle the bill!

this is a disappointing dinner especially the food. Despite both of us being small eaters, but we feel that we had yet eaten anything after the dinner! Can you imagine that we went for a second round in Brewerkz where I finish one Brewerkz Burger!!

more photographs of the dinner can be seen here

Went to La Mian & Xiao Long Bao from Crystal Jade @ Jurong Point last weekend with my parents!

Was surprised that they had renovated, although it appeared too dark upon entering, very much different to its past bright concept!

Order the Saliva Chicken La Mian for myself, surprisingly it has the Chinese taste, very original taste. Despite being cold noodles, I'll give it a thumbs up! very tasty.

As usual, the xiao long bao was ordered, reached the usual standards!

Customer service was good as whenever my cup of chinese tea is emptied, the waitress will come to fill it up!

When you're in Genting Highlands, finding good food to eat could be a major problem as you could not rely on fast food all the times and the food court's food are kinda crappy! Thus, you would have to patron one of the restaurants, however most of their prices are on the high side unless you had made a big win in one of the casino!! Despite not winning anything from the casino, I decided to dine at Restoran Good Friends on my second night stay!

It was crowded as usual, maybe many people won tons of money from the casino. I gave myself just minimum pampering by ordering just the cheaper and simple food instead of those food for the high rollers!!! I ordered the following:

Pork ribs old cucumber soup - tasted okay but it's kinda oily!!
Roasted chicken with cashew nuts - just like the photo shows, look and taste good!
Kai Lan with garlic - not bad, but the garlic not enough lei!!
Foo Yong Egg - this one tasted well and it goes well with the chilli sauce!!
Plain rice - of course all these need to go with some plain rice, tio bo?

However I discovered something interesting on my table, it might not be interesting for fellow Malaysian as this feature could be found in other restaurants. Nevertheless, it very innovative as it used broadband frequency to activated the waiters and waitresses for the above mentioned services. It's very effective as I tried pressing it a few times and the waiter/waitress came to my table within a minute!!!

Maybe Singapore restaurants should try this to make away the problem of waving your hand and none of the waiter or waitress could see you!!!
