Had eaten a couple of times at this outlet in the past before its recent renovation. So far, I would say that my experiences there had been quite pleasant.
When I am there, I always like to go for the Quarter Chicken, coupled with mashed potato (I like the gravy!!), the Macroni and Cheese and either corn nibblets or the muffins. But sometimes the muffins may be slightly off standard, too sweet for my liking. So I guess it depends on luck. haha.
Neverthless, I think the size of the serving is value for money. However, one thing bad is that perhaps a queue can be formed up quite easily since everything is self-service. So when I see that a queue is forming up, I would turn back cos' I noe that to get a table may not be that easy during those peak hours.
And I must say that after the renovation is done, it does seem to be more spacious and more trendy in a way. Will find one day to try out this revamped Kenny Rogers

Even though there is one incident where a customer found a cockroach inside the colesaw (I think), but I think they will be more caution from then now, so it did not stop me from going. Also with the new look, they looked more brighter and cleaner now as well.
Should go and try the few things that I mentioned about especially the corn muffins! Simple great! Soft and fluffy inside yet crispy outside.
The price is average and the sets are worth its price as well. The portions that they give are also huge.
The service there is prompt as well, eve though it is self service. The queue tends to built up when someone is there standing and thinking what side dish he/she wants. I hate it when it happens!

Probably because of the abundant choice of goods, the thieves market was colloquially referred to as Robinson petang, meaning "evening Robinson", a cheeky reference to the large Robinson Departmental Store, except this market catered to the poor man.
In the past, alot of shops were selling things like second hand audio systems, video players, cassette tape players, cassette tapes, those big black music discs ( I think its called 黑胶带）that were played on a gramaphone, etc. There were also a lot of people selling clothes, "masak" (toys), shoes, housewares such as bamboo poles and stuff.
But then in the mid 1980's or early 1990's, all the shophouses had been demolished and the shop owners had to either wind up their businesses or continue peddling their goods by the roadside, which is what we see nowadays.
And nowadays, the variety of goods had also changed quite a fair bit. While some things like the big black music discs still can be found, you can also find people selling those rings having huge gemstones or jade, for the uncles. There are also ppl selling old notes and coins, second hand bicycles (which are still in good condition), handphones (no contract but nt really that cheap either thou u can bargain over here), old clothes, CDs and VCDs of those old shows and songs (be it Chinese,English or other lanaguages).
Not forgetting also are keyboards, printers, home use phones, clothings, fans and the fans' blades,etc.
Of course now, I think most of the items sold here wouldnt be stolen goods, but rather discarded by people whom have deemed them to be useless and have been refurbished by the peddlers here and resold them for a small sum of money.
This place is a favourite sight of interest for tourists and you can always see tourists riding on trishaws coming from the Rocher Centre and taking a tour veryday, though they dnt normally go into the lanes cos' its simply too crowded.
So even though I have already shifted house, I still go back and walk around whenever I am popping by Sim Lim Sq, just to reminisce the old times, where a part of history still is evident. And I can see some familiar faces whom have been there for the past one to two decades.
So do go down and take a look. Who knows you can get a good bargain there for something that you have been searching high and low for? But if you are planning to go on a Saturday or Sunday, do note that the crowd can be quite packed. Especially on Sundays, where there will also a mini food bazzar for the Indian community nearby.
And to end off your trip there, you can just take another 5-10 mins walk to Blk 27 for the famous laksa. (",)

It started from a push cart stall, which was probably before I was born, then shifted to a coffee shop in a shophouse (just opposite Stamford Primary, where now people collect and sell old cardboard), which had since been demolished, then to blk 31 under the Multi-Storey Car Park to the present location. But before I shifted hse, they were still operating two stalls in both blk 31 and blk 27. So perhaps now to cut costs,they have only one left at blk 27.
From only 50 cents a bowl to the present 2 dollars per bowl, I would say that the flavour of the gravy is still the same, though the quantity also more or less remained, perhaps with a couple more cockles.
This laksa I guess was even more famous than Katong laksa during its mayhem days in the past. It was known then as "kor Kor" laksa. The reason was that the bowls used were those chinaware type of bowls having the picture of a cockerel on it I was told. Nt sure if that's the truth though.
Eating the laksa requires nothing more than a soup. WIth each scoop of the laksa, you will find a mixture of cockles, thick bee hoon, gravy, beansprouts and corriander. That taste was simply superb. And even though I am not one who has a particular crave for laksa, I nvr fail to empty the whole bowl, gravy included whenever I eat at the stall or packet home.
So do give it a try and you will see the difference between it and Katong laksa
Had been to this eatery twice in the past one month. The first time round, I was there with a fren. We were looking for something to eat when we walked past this place. As we were in the mood for pizzas, we decided to take our meal there.
There were 3 sizes of pizzas available: Regular, medium and large. The small was cut into 4 slices, medium 6 slices and large 8 slices. The best thing was that for the medium and large-sized pizzas, you could actually order 2 different flavours in one pizza. This was good as it allowed patrons to have a taste of different flavours in just one pizza instead of two. So me and my fren ordered two flavours: Chicken Royale & The Carnivore.
The Chicken Royale ingredients consisted of Creamy sauce, chicken, onions, green capsicum, pineapples, mozzarella, cheddar while The Carnivore ingredients were BBQ sauce, chicken, ground beef, beef bacon, turkey ham, beef pepperoni, prawns, squid, mozzarella.
The taste was quite good, and the crust was thin and crispy and we left the shop feeling quite satisfied.
The 2nd time round, I decided to bring my gf to eat at the same place as I felt that she would like it. So again we ordered the same combination for the pizza as well as a seafood platter as an appetizer. The pizza was still as good as the previous time while the platter was good but nothing fantastic to comment abt.
Therefore, I would say that the place is well worth the money and do be mindful that cos' the place is quite small, you may have to wait a while before getting a seat. Reservations can be made, but as I did nt get a namecard from the shop, it is nt reflected in the biz info as yet. Will try to update it soonest possible. Once seated, the waiter took the order and at the point they serve the food, he mentioned that they are closing in 10 mins time. So we got to leave in 10 mins time!
How come they cannot say this out when they brought us to our seats or when taking our order? Felt so cheated!

To me this place serves decent pratas but there are other places that serves better pratas.
The last time I went, I went with my colleagues. I ordered one plain prata and one one egg with onion prata. Both came fresh and hot. However I find the plain one tasted a bit plain. The egg with onion one slightly better. The egg and onion is well distributed within the prata itself.
Then I also order a banana prata to taste. It is good. Thin and crispy crust with slices of banana on it! A bit on the sweet side though.
It is open 24 hrs so it is also a good place to go and la kopi if got nothing to do at night.
Ice Cream Chefs ... located along East Coast Road... How could I not visit this place?! It's a quaint little joint located near where Jackie's Bowl used to be.
Initially I'd thought the ice cream would be made on the spot ... haha the bimbo I am...
The ice cream is displayed like normal. There are many flavours to choose from including special ones like Chocolate and Hershey's, Nutella Delight, Mrs Smith, etc. The ice cream is made from real ingredients... not just flavouring. There's real durian meat in the Durian Decadence flavour.
And The really special thing they'd do for you is CUSTOMISE your ice-cream. You can add Loacker's wafers, Oreos... into your ice-cream!! You can even mix flavours...
One large pint will cost $9.50. Two pints was nice for 3 people who loved ice cream.
I think it's worth a try. The quality is pretty good and it's great fun! The ambience is very casual with music from the radio in the background. You can choose to sit inside or outside... total seating area for about 20 people .

The doctors and the nurses there are very professional, good and friendly. They are also very patient in answering all the silly questions that I might asked whenever I visit them as well.
They got quite a huge following, whenever I am there, theyre always seems to have a lot of ppl as well.
