You know how good this place is?

Just to get the pie for my mom on her birthday (yes she requested for the pie and not a cake), I walked round the entire China Square area a few times with a bad tummyache for 1 and a half hours.

The outlet's between two lanes and it's not very easy to see so I think I must have missed it many times, then when I was finally near, I could smell it... Yummy.

A pie could be cut equally into size portions with an egg in each portion and large chunks of chicken in generous helpings of potato. Just one slice would be enough for any meal of the day. It's absolutely yummy.

The staff was also very helpful and full of initiative. Seeing that I was tired from the walk and seemed to be in pain, they escorted me out and flagged a cab for me.

The price is normal for a pie this size. about $18-$20 per pie.

Well lucky for me, they now have an outlet at Parkway. :)

Mix and Match Merchandise is a store in People's Park that sells mainly the components you would need for jewellery making. There are many such shops in People's Park Complex.

But M&M is the only one very well stocked with QUALITY components. They sell a range of those made in China and those made in the US. There's also quite a bit of semi precious stones to choose from, but the variety of stones and beads are not as wide as those shops at Arab Street.

So I would recommend this place, if you're looking for good quality nylon or metal parts.

The staff are very helpful and they are very knowledgeable their products, since they also know how to make accessories themselves. They provide books for you to refer from and you could find the items needed in the pattern you want from their shops.

They have two outlets in People's Park Complex. One's on the first level the other on the second.

Art Friend is one of the most well-stocked places where you can get your art supplies. It boasts a large variety of every single thing you would need for your art piece. They even have art supplies targeted for artists on every level from the kid artist to the professional ones. If they don't have it, they could order it in, if you're willing to wait.

However, the staff isn't very friendly. They will not offer help and are usually found at the counter (if they can be found at all). But you could ask the customers there for help. Plenty of art students there who could give advice.

The pricing of their items vary. Some of the things are much more expensive but they also have bargain items.

I would usually head there if I know that the things I wish to find are quite hard to source for.

This was last Christmas. It was really value for money... 2 days 1 night weekend stay for $148. The room was quite spacious with a tub and double bed. It had those new sort of design where there's a glass between the room and the toilet? Room has a nice sofa and working desk too.

As for the facilities there's a gym, rooftop swimming pool, steam room and a spa on the roof top. They have 2 award winning restaurants... One's Jap and the other's fusion. I've yet to try both as I keep hopping to the Hawker Centre nearby for my favourite Chicken Cutlet Horfun!!

For entertainment you could even go to Pulau Ubin for the day - cycle, fish, paint, etc. Pretty cool really.

It's a real nice getaway place.

I believe this outlet has moved to Siglap - Cresendo building.

Great layout and ambience of place. Everyone was very friendly. No stuck up stylists introducing all kinds of greek hairdressing terms.

Athel cut my hair. I think he was one of the Senior stylists if not the head. He did a good job and kept up some small talk, without being too inquisitive. He wasn't irritating, but reasonable entertaining. After snipping my hair a bit, I had to wait a little for the Shampooing to be done. The receptionist immediately delivered magazines to keep me occupied.

The Shampoo and head massage was well done. The shampoo and conditioner they used didn't have the usual salon smell which i thought was FANTASTIC! It smelt really good.

They also shared some tips with me on how to maintain my hair without too much hassle especially after I told him that I was lazy.

All in all I think it was a good experience for my $37.

The shop sells Chinchillas, rabbits and hamsters... and all things related to them. They have a large variety of things for small animals because they specialize in them.

I love it for its wide variety. Jevon and Lifan are always available to dispense advice on your pets. They're very helpful indeed. The place is cosy looking and you can see that they try to entertain the pets a little and not treat them as lifeless commercial products. They take good care of the animals there so it's pretty safe to buy from them.

There's also free delivery if you spend more than $50, which is quite a low limit.

The slight downside is that they aren't very cheap. But I guess for the free advice... it's ok.

I went there some time back.

The ambience was ok, pretty much like the other cafes.
The pricing seems fine on the menu. (but did not seem so fine later).

Firstly, after we ordered, I asked for plain water and the server nodded. After a while, no water came so I raised my hand to remind. It was only then the other server informed me that iced water was not served (FOC) at this cafe. I'm not angry that water is not served (many places don't.) but I'm pissed at being made to look like a cheapo who keeps asking for free water.

Next the food that came looked ok. I took the ketuchup on the table and started to tilt it. Nothing came out. This was one of the situations where it's hard to get the sauce out from new bottles.... So we tried for a while but to no avail. SO we asked for another bottle after explaining the situation. The server gave us another one.... WITH THE SAME PROBLEM! I think it would have took just a little common sense to TEST first before handing the customer another stuck one! Then we raised the issue again and this time the server brought two bottles and he tried to pour for us... AND BOTH WERE STUCK! It was frustrating! The manager (or senior server) came to help and he just tried at our table.

(The correct thing to do at this time was to use a chopstick to stir the sauce in the kitchen, pour it out on a saucer and serve the customer the dish of sauce.)

Anyway finally we borrowed the sauce from the next table which seemed to have no trouble with theirs.

    Food not fantastic.

Then we asked for the bill which took 10-15 minutes to come... and mind you, there were only 4 other tables occupied.

    2029. The Cheesecake Cafe

    Bobo Bobo says:

The Cheesecake Cafe is located just a stone's throw away from Siglap Centre. It's open from Wed-Sun, 4.30 - 11.30pm.

It is THE Cheesecake Cafe. As in THE. It serves up a whole host of different cheesecakes. There are also specials everyday which are not in the menu. The Rum N Raisin Cheesecake and Strawberry Oreo Cheesecake are great! There's also a peach one which I love but I can't remember the exact name. Anyway TRY ALL. I'm serious.

The food isn't all that great. They serve some finger food that taste different from time to time. The drinks are fine.

The ambience is very relaxed with jazz playing in the background. There are sofa seats and dinner tables to choose from, depending on what you wish to order.

It's the perfect place to chill out with your friends. But not for dinner.

Pepper Lunch! Definitely something new. The food cooks at your table so you needn't worry about it being served cold or stale-like. There's a wide variety of dishes for you to choose from with different combinations.

You could have salmon, chicken, rice, etc.

I had the Salmon and Chicken Combo, whilst my companion had the Beef set. Both of which tasted great. It would not be overcooked as the pan on which the food is served cools after a while.

The ambience is very casual as it is a fast food restaurant. The prices are higher than that of your regular fast food joints but it's really due to the quality of the food.

One small gripe I have would be that the servers could afford to smile a little more and they could make the system of seating the customers more transparent.
