My friends & I went to Cold Rock to have dessert after dinner, my colleague recommended this place so we came to take a look.
We helped ourselves to the tables inside & took a look at the bar, there were SWEETS CHOCO MARSHMELLOWS FRUITS. WOW.
Not knowing what to order, we ordered their pre-set combi which is Break The Law, Heat The something & their standard Cold Rock ice cream combi
Break The Law has bubblegum ice cream with M&Ms, gummy bears & marshmellows. I think due to the temp of the ice cream, the gummy bears & marshmellows were tough to bite.
Heat The somthing has mango sorbet with dark mango, raspberry & strawberry. A very light & refreshing taste with sweetness from the fruits. Great combi !!
Cold Rock standard has cookies & cream ice cream with oreo, cookie & something. Not bad.
All 3 flavours compliment the ingredients quite well, there's smoothness, chewiness & flavour. Great ice cream.
The interesting part was watching the staff mesh the ice cream with the ingredients, unfortunately this interesting action causes the ice cream to melt abit faster cause the sorbet was abit watery when the staff passed the cup to me.
Overall, great flavours with toppings of your choice. Pricey & not really worth going except for experience. Recommend to go at least once. personally I do like the ice cream at Cold Rock but Ben & Jerry would suffice for me since Scoopz died.

I think Cold Rock ice cream is really, really, good. However, the price is too high. I quite like the butterscotch and the bubble gum flavour.
WITH TIMTAM!
OMG, deadly combination man.
I like the "cool" environment there. Perfect for teenagers like me. I see many students study there, especially Secondary School pupils.
Considering that this age group is especially hard to convince, I think that Cold Rock ice cream taste AND quality must be pretty good, if so many teenagers become regulars there.
YUMMY GUMMY BEARS WITH BUBBLEGUM ICE CREAM ROCKS~

i always like to go there to watch there smash the ice cream with toppings..and stare at the toppings, but ytd for the first time i finally got to eat!
it was also the first time that i couldnt make a decision cos all the flavors taste weird. english/irish toffee (cant rmb), aussie vanilla, ferrero are all the type of flavors that even the sample is too much to handle "jialaat".
in the end, i got the junior cup cone for peanut butter ice cream, and it was seriously too much to finish. first few bites were ok but after that..it was quite a torture, honestly.
my friends got:
mango with passionfruit topping: extremely sour! but nice if you alternate it with peanut butter ice cream.
tiamara with mars bars: nearly broke my teeth on the mars bars. ok only
generally i think cold rock is over-hyped and over-priced. never going back there again

I tried the Choco Mint and Irish Cream flavours. Bad move as the mint flavour was too strong and overpowered the Irish Cream. Another bad move, I choose Oreo chips instead of something else.
The end result wasn't that bad but the mixing of the two flavours felt weird if they didn't compliment each other. The seats in the shop were few and isn't that suited for large groups wanting to enjoy their chat.
I'm a safe ice cream eater and it was a pity because I could have chosen the more exotic flavours (for the same amount of money spent) that aren't sold in tubs elsewhere.

Cold Rock Ice Creamery - Another ice cream stall to hop onto the mix and match your own ice cream bandwagon, which brings the grand total of such stalls to 2 at last count (the other being Ice Cream Chefs).
Opened recently in June this year at Holland Village , Cold Rock Singapore is actually a franchise of the wildly popular Cold Rock in Australia, which was set up back in 1996 and has 60 stores across Australia as of May 07. The process and concept of making your dream ice cream is similar to that of Ice Cream Chefs ( the process has already been detailed in the entry on Ice Cream Chefs so I shall not elaborate further). Cold Rock however, definitely has more ice cream flavours and mix ins available, but at a slight premium of course. If I remember correctly, Ice Cream Chefs charges 60 cents per topping whereas it goes for $1 at Cold Rock. The prices for a basic ice cream is also more expensive.
My combination of Butterscotch ice cream Ferrero ice cream Milo nuggets Tim Tam Marshmallows - Taste wise, I did find the ice cream served up by Ice Cream Chefs marginally better because it was lighter on the tastebuds and not too sweet (I had a mild sugar high from eating Cold Rock's ice cream).
My concoction set me back by $9, which is terribly expensive for an ice cream, regardless of the novelty factor. I mean, even Ben & Jerry's doesn't charge that much for a 3 scoop sundae! However, if you live in the west and crave for such novelties, then Cold Rock would be your best bet.

A friend of mine recommended this brand of ice cream to me. He said he simply love the Ferrero flavor. Being curious, I decided to give it a try.
Disappointed! I ordered Rum and Raisin and Dark Choc with M&Ms. Well, I'm not sure whether it was the blend but it does not taste appetizing at all. The taste was well... under the line... not up to it.... or the Chinese explanation : 不到味
Cold Rock wins, by having unique ice cream toppings, flavor and giving customers the thrill of watching their ice cream being blended (ouch) however, blending makes the ice cream flavors mixed up and sometimes cancel out each other. Further, blended ice cream does not look good at all. (As per my photo)
For ice cream of that pricing, I will rather go to Hagaan Daz right opposite or Scoopz which up till now is my favorite.

My inaugural trip to Cold Rock was months ago. As it happened, I chanced upon this new ice cream outlet on a random trip to laid back Holland V, and fortunately for them, ice cream of any kind is my weakness.
I love ice cream in the purest sense of the word - single flavor with no condiments. But ice cream with add-ons has got to be the defining thing in ice cream history. A simple topping such as caramel sauce or mixed nuts can change the taste profile of an ice cream entirely.
And so I embrace Cold Rock's signature culture of mixing and smashing which is an art form in itself. With Cold Rock, the choices are endless. With an already vast line-up of flavors coupled with top-notch "mix-ins" (ranging from candies to brownies), no one ice cream is the same. I find it more exciting that Cold Rock brings back fond childhood memories with the addition of old school classics such as Freddo Frogs chocolates, Gummi Bears and Milo Nuggets.
The moment I stepped into the store, I was immediately welcomed by the friendly staff. It could get quite overwhelming to see the many ice cream flavors and mix-ins, but the helpful staff would be more than willing to educate and suggest winning combinations.
I knew what I wanted immediately. I chose peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, and mixed them with Nutella. Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe this flavorful concoction. My friend decided to choose Bubble gum ice cream with gummi bears and marshmallows, which I'm sure will win hearts of the kids, and those young at heart.
Despite Cold Rock's novel ideas, the pricing may turn off certain customers as it is quite highly priced compared to its near competitors. However, price shouldn't be a consideration at all, given the delicious ice creams, wonderful staff and cool ambience.
Truly, Cold Rock is a gem of all rocks!
