I was pretty hesitant about this concept store as there were many of such stores back then. Many stalls are replicating the success of the $1.99 shop, and jumping on the bandwagon in hope of getting businesses over. Some of the items sold are of mediocre quality and below par standard.

This particular Daiso was the first flagship store in Singapore, and I roamed the place when it first opened in Singapore back in 2002. Back in my mind I was thinking, aren't Japanese made products supposed to be expensive?

All the items here are priced at $2 nett. You can find a whole range of useful items here; ranging from snacks, tools, utensils, boxes, stationeries, containers, home essentials and many more. It is advisable to take a walk around as you may bump into something interesting which you may not find anywhere else.

This outlet is relatively more neat and tidy than the Vivocity and Plaza Singapura outlet, but all of their outlets are well maintained so it's not a hassle to find the products you need. The staffs are also friendly, when I enquire about the location of specific item, they were able to point out and lead me there.

In fact, this place has been very successful in Japan for many years. And this has proved to be a hit among Singaporeans too. Cheap, affordable, essential and useful!

$2 an item. Seems to be quite cheap on hearing however, buyers have to beware of what is the item they are buying. There are some items like Tin cans or utensils going for lower than $2 even though they don't come from Japan. So if you happened to get those items that cost cheaper outside, Daiso cannot be consider cheap. Unless you value that the stuffs came from Japan.

Quality of items, I have to give a plus as although many items are small and there are so many different kinds of things on shelves, the merchandise are clean and of good quality comparative to the price.

Practically lots of things can be found there, food stuffs, to toys, toiletries to utensils as well as DIY stuffs. Many items like washing machine cleaner, rice bugs preventer are not commonly found in Singapore.

Negative points though, quite difficult to find a specific item and since many of the staffs are Japanese, its difficult asking them though I can see they brought in staffs for some other countries.
