I like Food Republic as they seem to have better food than KouFu or Kopitiam. The wisma location is a much better option then the Ion counterpart in terms of quality and price, plus its generally less crowded.
This is my default post-gym dinner place but recently the prawn noodle soup stall has closed down. I also tried the dim sum stall's congee once and it was quite good. The toast box also makes for a good tea time pit-stop.
My current favorite is the sliced fish bittergourd noodle soup - for $4.80 you get a generous portion of fresh sliced fish and thick noodles swimming in flavourful broth.
Just dont try the 麻辣香锅 - it is not too bad but it is unexpectedly expensive! Of course it depends on the amount and type of veg you pick but it still adds up to about $8-10 for one person. Too ex for a simple foodcourt meal.

I quite like this place.. Its full of the 60s Singapore feel. I mean where can you find authentic hawker food in an authentic setting such as this anywhere in town. Even the chairs and tables are wooden and made to look like street fair like in the movies.
This place is indeed a heaven for tourist who are looking for more cultural emphasis. The food is great. They have chup chye Png (Economy Rice) Why is it called ECONOMY? anyway, yong tou foo, the famous fried prawn noodles and other stuffs like 5 spices beehoon, etc. The variety is more then what you can have in one day, therefore return trips is a must.
The best thing i love is these aunties trolleying around a trolley of drinks to your table.. Just like the past, no more queing for your drinks.. as well as the dim sum dollies... whose pretty dim sum are still piping hot even after many repeatation of HAR KOW, SIEW MAI, LOR MAI KAI....
The food is not cheaper then our common hawker centres however, we must give credit to the beautiful city view as well as the fabulous interior deco. After a good meal, you can burn out all the calories by doing good shopping downstairs.
Its a fabulous place to bring your overseas friends as well as a good lunch out with friends.

After watching so many Korean dramas and seeing the people eating the rice cakes along the roadside stores, I always wanted to try it out. But I never get a chance to try it out in Korea, so I liked to try out the rice cakes in the restaurants in Spore. Sad to say, not many offered Korean rice cakes.
I was initially attracted to the Korean stall in Wisma Food Republic as it offered the pork slices with cabbage. Like it that the cabbage is cooked and there are kimchi vege (think is raddish strips) to go with it.
But just recently when I went, they now offer Korean rice cakes!! The kimchi paste has soaked into the rice cake, making it tasty. But I must say I prefer a more watery paste (like the one in Taka basement food hall) and less spicy.
The bibimbap was nice (where bibimbap is usually dependant on the bean paste on top). We also had the Korean Ginseng Chicken, although that was the one that blew my budget.
(I wonder if there are any restaurant in Spore that add mee sua to the Ginseng Chicken soup, I had it in Korea with a cup of ginseng wine added to it. But I guess I can only have Ginseng Chicken and cross-the-bridge-mee-sua in separate restaurants here…)
