I really like the deco and ambience of this restaurant. I suppose those who do not like the dimness of the place should visit in the day- it's really quite different. The homely feel whets your appetite.
I have been to the place three times, both at night and in the day. It serves wonderful omu rice- simple and flavourful... you really will enjoy it.
The escargots came with some drama and fire, and yes, is of course not as fresh as when you eat them in Italy but is a good replacement. It's after all not expensive.
A nice cosy restaurant good for a romantic dinner for couples or a homely meal of a gathering of friends. BUT do not go without a reservation if you have more than 4 people- place is popular during peak hours.

After enjoying a wonderful plate of Escargots during my holiday, I've been wondering if it's actually possible to find reasonably-priced Escargots in Singapore. And when I saw Ma Maison, and how cheap the Escargots actually were, I couldn't wait to go there!
So when I got there, there was a rather short but slow-moving queue, so people: do remember to make reservations!
However, if you didn't mind sitting at the bar, they'd allow you to do that just so you don't have to wait too long. And that was what I did. Nothing unpleasant nor special about that experience.
I understand that the place is a French-Jap fusion restaurant, but I personally didn't quite like the decor of the place. The dark lightings and wooden furnishing gave it a french/ country-style indeed, perhaps that explains the "French" part. However, I thought everything you see didn't quite blend well with the atmosphere and cuisine (so to speak) served.
Service was not too bad there, people were rather friendly and prompt in bringing up your food. We didn't have to wait too long for our orders. Additional plates and appropriate utensils were also provided to make it easier to eat the Escargots and anything else we ordered. We were also given this giant brass key that we would need when making payment. It was a rather cool idea and it was so huge that you can't lose it. But that chunky thing was kinda in the way too, considering how bar-tops were not made for big plates.
I can't remember the exact name of the things I ordered, but I remember there being a plate of Escargots, some Mexican (or spanish?) seafood rice and a bowl of Omu rice.
The Escargots had a fairly strong garlic and butter taste, and was very oily. Did not taste very fresh to me either.
The seafood rice, too, had the similar garlic and butter taste. Makes me wonder if they use the exact same wok/pan to cook everything. I didn't like the appearance of the dish. It gave me the feeling of being full upon looking at it. But apart from the abovementioned, taste-wise, it was still fairly decent.
My favourite was probably the simple tomato sauce-based Omu rice. I would advise anyone who orders that to finish it while it's still hot and tasting good.
In general, I have one comment for almost everything I had: being the worse fan of garlic, everything in the food had to have such strong garlic taste! So I guess I didn't really enjoy everything.. Nonetheless, I am sure if you share the exact opposite sentiments as I do, this place could be a place worth trying! And if you're on some sort of a budget, try to limit yourself to just one dish per person because the bill can come up to quite abit, including the GST and all. We paid $90 for two, unfortunately.

On first sight, it seems to be a small dark restaurant with identify crisis - is it Japanese or is it French?
Lunch time is quite full so ended up in the counter. However, early lunch during the weekends is fine and we even got to chose our tables.
Decor is cottage French and brings a certain "Manga" feel, like you're in a Miyazaki cartoon. Perfect place for that gothic lolita gathering!
The head waitress/manager is in costume. Very fitting of French-Japanese restaurant.
It was told to me that the Japanese-French concept is not new and in Japan, such restaurants are immaculate when it comes to authencity in taste (french).
Ordered a few items and they were all great! Average about $18-27 per person for mains.
Instead of giving your bill from the table, they give you a brass key with the table number, kinda like you'd find in an old European motel. You take the key to the cashier, manned by the manager, for payment.
BTW, their in-house toilet is a very tight squeeze. So be warened after a heavy meal.
Avoid sitting at the counter as the cooking is done just nearby albeit seperated by a glass wall.
I give it 5 stars in its (French-Japanese) class for quality, decor and service.

My 1st visit there on a Tuesday evening at 7pm with a gf who's a regular, there was a queue forming outside the entrance.
While waiting she was telling me to try the Hamburger Steak, we waited for 10mins and was offered barcounter seat.
We ordered the Hamburger steak and escargots. The escargots was served w fire, wow... my 1st time to see such a way of serving.. V entertaining and delicious too.
The Hamburger stead was good too, with a sunny up on top.
(4gotten to take pics, was busy eating rite away after being served :))
When the dinner crowd starts to leave around 9, we asked for a window seat and order the brownie with ice cream. (Finally remb to take a pic of it).
I wasn't a brownie fans, but it's not as rich and harden which I have eaten somewhere else.
I think the best part of this place is the check out bill, a tag with a key, just like a hotel room. hahahaha... If you have been there, you know what i mean. (see pic)
The service staff is nice and environment is comfortable.
Worth to go again. :)

This is my first time here. We went there on Sunday at abt 6pm for dinner. There were no queue at all.
My bf and I order the beef stroganoff butter rice, escargots, Cuttlefish Ink Spaghetti and Scotch Egg.
Escargots
My first time having escargots and I'm loving it! Not too buttery and it has garlic fragance...
Beef Stroganoff Butter Rice
The rice is buttery and served covered in a creamy, fluffy egg, while the beef is served with a delicious brown sauce. V. delicious! Is a must try!
Scotch Egg
Hard-boiled egg, wrapped with minced chicken, coated with breadcrumbs and deep fry till golden brown. A little bit dry. But it taste good.
Cuttlefish Ink Spaghetti
I was v. curious on how the black spaghetti taste like. This dish is not really to my liking. It was too dry and it taste weird to me...
Overall, the food are pretty good.
The ambience is great, is candlelit and pretty quiet.
Will definately be back to try out more dishes.

visited this place some time ago. The food is good! This is the third time i ate this and it haven failed me yet! haha.. ok.
For the uninitiated, this place sells jap-french fusion food. The signature dish is the black squid spaghetti (which I haven try yet.. so no comments)
First on the food. The food are done quite well. I had a dish of beef meat covered with omettle with rice. This is the nicest. Never failed to get this whenever I go there. A must try. I also have this beef patty with rice (their supposed signature). Not very worthit and nice i feel. Just ok only. The beef is like upsized beef patty. I prefer beef meat pieces than patty made of minced meat.
During lunchtime, there are also set lunches from 12.90 to 16.90. Quite cheap compared to eating dinner. Set lunch includes 1 drink, 1 main, 1 soup, 1 salad.
Another tip is to sign up to be a member (2 types of membership - lunch and dinner) For dinner, if you accumulate 10 stamps (1 stamp for every dinner visit), you get $100 voucher. Very worthit i feel.
The service is also very nice too. Quite polite. Maybe only sometime didnt top up the water as fast.

My girlfriends and I had the chance to visit Ma Maison on a Wednesday evening. Thinking that it's a weekday evening and that we were there at 8pm, there would be less people. Boy, were we wrong... There was a queue snaking out of the restaurant. We waited for 30 minutes before we were shown a seat. Very popular place indeed. We ordered and settled to take photographs while waiting for our food. We noticed that there were a few tables with Jap patrons and that's usually a sign that there's good Jap food in existence.
My apologies for not being able to provide the actual name of the dish as I was too excited and forgot to take a photo of the menu.
The food we ordered
Escargots:
This is done with garlic. It was delicious! Served up warm, it was very fragrant and they were good to provide all the right utensils for extracting the flesh.
Hamburger Steak
The meat was well minced and packed in a patty. It is served with an egg and some potato, doused in brown sauce. Even the waitress said "brown sauce" So I have no idea what sauce it is actually. Even though I'm not really one for meat, I did like this one as the meat was minced and easy on the stomach.
Gratin with Prawn and Scallops
I love this potato and cheese combination. There weren't many prawns and scallops though.. I think there was a grand total of two each. But this is one dish you have to share with friends. One person can't finish the whole plate.
Pork Cutlet
This is served with two sauces and mineral salt. The waitress explained what we should do with the sauces but when she left, all four of us were still baffled because we couldn't understand what she said. Well in the end, we did it the Singaporean way - Rojak style. We put all the sauces into the little dish she gave us and just dipped our pork pieces into it. The cutlet was a little on the tough side, a little too difficult to chew. The meat inside didn't have any taste and the crisp outside was a little bland too. The potato it was served with was nice though.
Cuttlefish Ink Spaghetti
I was a little taken aback by how black the spaghetti came. But all my companions swore by this dish so I tried it. It was yummy! Just good on its own. My only grievance is that it is a little on the dry side but I will definitely order this dish again.
Apple Pie with Ice Cream
The apple filling was suitably sweet but the crust was a little too dry and had a very starchy taste to it which I couldn't bear to eat. We finished up most of the pie leaving the crust behind.
Brownie with Ice Cream
We all loved the brownie. Me being a dessert lover, I'd say this is one of the better brownies I've had. It's not too dry nor moist and has just enough chocolate flavour so that one will not be sick of the taste before finishing.
Goma Ice Cream (Sesame)
This is my first go at such a flavour and I'd have to say it has a special taste to it. The ice cream left a strong aftertaste in my mouth. It wasn't sweet but did have a very strong taste of sesame. Quite enjoyable I guess.
The four of us spent $87 in all which I'd say is pretty reasonable.
