This was where I spent my Valentine's day this year. Met up with my girlfriend for dinner as my bf had class that night. We arranged to meet at Marina Square and only decided where to eat when she reached the place. She went to couple others but were rejected as they were fully booked for the night.

As we've both never been to Pasta de Waraku, and I wanted to try it long ago ever since I saw their display outside, we decided to try it, since it wasn't fully booked and my friend managed to get a table immediately.

The lady serving us was very friendly and nice. As it was our first time, we had many questions, and she patiently explained to us and answered our questions... with a smile. :)

Finally we settled on our choice and were ready to order. My friend had a Chicken & Mushroom with Japanese style curry @ $16.80 and I ordered the Octopus and Squid pasta with their special, supposed to be healthy, Wafu sauce @ $14.80 (minus the mayo).

After tasting both pasta, I concluded that the Chicken & Mushroom (No. 38 on the menu) is better. I like the curry taste (non-spicy). And its a unique way of eating pasta. My order was disappointing. I had to add tons of chili flakes and cheese to flavor it. Perhaps I shouldn't have selected the healthier choice.

Might think twice the next time I'm around one. Sketches serves better pasta.

Pasta de Waraku is tucked away in the corner of Marina Square.. but it's certainly not quiet. We arrived at 6pm, thinking of grabbing an early dinner without making reservations. There were only two of us so we confidently thought that we would be able to get in with ease since the Restaurant was empty. But we were asked to wait for almost 10 minutes whilst they tried to figure if they were fully booked. So MAKE RESERVATIONS... but finish reading this review first.

The overall decor was casual and modern. It's quite comfortable with suitable lighting but it's definitely more for families and casual friends. Not quite a place you would bring a date you want to impress.

We ordered: Wafu Unatama Pasta (Eel with Egg on Pasta) Dry Curry Pilaf (Jap Style Curry Fried Rice with Pork Bacon) Ichigo Sundae Shirafama Redbean Sundae

In appearance, the pasta was not impressive. You could hardly find any eel anywhere and it was covered with egg. In taste, it was worse. It was very dry and the pieces of eel all flaked into pieces. They were so soft that it became difficult to taste it. I could hardly bring myself to eat the egg, which was tasteless. The only consolation was that it was a sizeable serving, but in this case I'm not sure it is a good point.

The rice was not much better. In appearance it looked even worse... The serving was small and it looked like a mash of yellow bits with little of anything else. It tasted salty, with a tiny taste of the Jap style curry. You could count the bits of meat with your fingers.

I regretted ordering the two desserts. They tasted exactly the same and looked nothing like the pictures in the menu. Not to mention both were already swimming in liquid when they arrived.

We paid $52 for both of us, which I find expensive for such mediocre food. The only thing I was happy with was the service. They were quick to respond and always smiling.

    I'm never going back again.

If you guys ever walked past this Pasta De WaRaKa Restaurant, bet you would somehow be attracted by the delicious looking of pasta "specimen" displayed outside.

Gosh. I am so so tempted to try. I dragged my boy down to Marina Square last Sunday and finally got my chance to dine there. Umm try to go-in around 5plus - Coz if you reached there after 6pm, chances of waiting / queue-in will be relatively High (most applicable to weekend!)

They have got a Menu of Pasta to Rice/Grains to SideDishes to Pizza to Drinks to Dessert. Many things to choose from! and we spent like 15mins browsing through the menu and still can decide and what to order.

And after another 5 mins of discussion, we decided on this.. - 1 Carbonara, the waraku style - 1 Soup Based Pasta - Bacon and Vegetable - 1 Prawn & Scallop Pizza - 1 tiramisu wif banana wif vanilla ice-cream dessert (Umm. i forgot the whole name)

Waiting time is relatively short. And before the main course is served, We got a small serving of salad each ( All pasta are served wif a free small bowl of salad!). And the Salad taste awfully Nice!! The dressing makes the Veggie smooth to your throat and makes you crave for more! The dressing tasted a combination of Sweet, Salty and Sour - Very appetitizing. Even my boy commented tat the salad is delicious (Very amazing about that coz he nv eats raw veggie.) **So we actually checked out with the staffs on the dressing that they used and we were told that its called Black Vingarette - The Chef imported them from Japan. The staff is very helpful, he even show us the bottle of the vingarette.

We tried out on different type pasta. Mine is Tomato sauce and my boy's Cream sauce. And both are equally Nice!!

Mine is Soup-based Pasta(Tomato sauce), The soup is not too thick nor saltish , serving just nice and the noodle doesnt taste soft even soaking in soup for sometime. But its best served Hot! My Boy's Carbonara, the waraku style, its the one wif Egg Yolk. Umm, i only tried a few mouthful. But this few mouthful is enough to satisfy my taste bud. Coz the cream sauce doesnt feel or taste too milky, in fact its delicious and small niceee ( i dont fancy cream sauce though!)

And afterwhich is our Prawn and Scallop Pizza. The serving size would be just nice for 2 person. The extreme Thin crust is coated with tartar sauce and some cheese, then baked till crispy. Topped with fresh prawn and scallop. Not only does it taste nice, it looks nice too! Serve a slice with cheese and chilli powder. Guess you will popped in the second slice after you finish your first! *Slurpss.

Lastly would be our dessert. The tiramisu wif banana wif vanilla ice-cream dessert. Tiramisu plus ice-cream, very nice. Amazingly, it doesnt taste as sweet as i thought it would be.

We spent about S$60 for this dinner. Might be alittle pricey. But i feel that it definitely worth the money. Service is Great ( they respond pretty fast), Food is Superb, Ambience is conducive.
