Yesterday was my first time going to sumo house. I do agree that the food was cheap and there was free flow of hot green tea. The service was good and there was complimetary plate of fried fish served as more than 4 person patronized their store. I was quite disappointed when my udon in iron pot came. I ordered the udon in iron pot because i was wishing that my udon will be constantly be heated up. But when the food came, i realised that the iron pot was not placed over a flame. This made me wonder why anyone will wanna eat in a iron pot. Wouldn't the food turn cold even faster than normal.

Other than the udon in iron pot, i will say the sumo house is definitely a good place to have your meal when you really have no budget.

Cheap tallies with value! The cheap food is not as exotic as an authentic jap restaurant. More like a fast-food restaurant. Maybe our appetite was affected by the poor poor attitude of the manager (who claimed to be the "BOSS"), and that's why we did not enjoy the food as much! Too bad!

We all know Japanese food as expensive, pocket-ripping cuisine that's irresistible at the same time! But fear not (especially students!), because Sumo House is here to the rescue!

I used to patronize Sumo House at Bedok Central, but after they closed down that outlet, I never went there anymore. But recently I had the chance to go to Clementi, of course I didn't miss the chance to have Sumo House!

Although most of the things sold at Sumo House are mainly rice and noodles stuff, and not the fresh sashimi which maybe many love, I think what you can get from them is really good enough.

I ordered a Katsu Curry and my friend got a Yakimeshi (Breaded Chicken with Fried Rice), both to go. Although we had to pay an extra 50c, I was rather impressed when I received my food. As I did not have a proper table to eat (at where I was), because the bento was properly packed and the food well arranged, it made eating while sitting on the floor very convenient. I felt that their curry rice was good and the chicken wasn't too soggy (after being soaked under the hot curry gravy). The curry had a tinge of sweetness and got me wanting for more! As for their fried rice, it wasn't too salty but I found it rather oily. And the breaded chicken was crispy and tender too! Lastly, the miso soup! Half the time I get very salty miso soup when I have Japanese food, obviously instant-soup. But this time I found the miso soup tasty and not salty, with a generous serving of seaweed! The only thing lacking probably was tofu cubes.

The best thing - Both our bentos were less than $6! I'd definitely recommend everyone to try out Sumo House!

Joe and i went all the way to clementi central to search for the famous porridge store. However, when we reach there, they have already sold out all their porridge. Disappointed but due to the two hungry stomach, we have to find the next best thing to eat.

Walked through a couple of times around the clementi central, but still cannot find something that can attract us. Finally, Joe suggested to me to try out the sumo house.

Termed as the cheapest japanese food in town, i was pretty wery if i should believe them. Well, this is bascially because i have been to experience japanese restuarant but their food does not fits my taste. And now, will the cheapest japanese food fits my taste?

We did not wait for long before entering the restuarant. The restuarant does not have expensive settings and royal furniture, just simple tables and chairs. A lot of self service is also required. Take for example, we have to get the green tea on our own. But i guess, all this is bascially to cut down the unnecessary costs.

When we saw the menu, we could not believe our eyes. Yes, a don set only costs $2.90. This don set consists of fried chicken cutlet with egg, rice and not forgetting the servings of vegetable, fruits and soup. To get so much food for such a small amount of money, its really worth!

What impressed me is that, they did not decrease quality nor make the food into smaller portion just because its selling at such a cheap rate.

The chicken cutlet in my don is really a big piece (it does not have large amount of flour covering the meat). Beside being big size, the crispyness of the cutlet is another thing that make me fall in love with it immediately.

We also ordered their scallop which i think its much better than some japanese restuarant that are offering. Their scallops are pretty big in size and when mixed with the mayonnise it taste marvellous. One plate is definitely not enough for both of us.

A definite worth to try japanese food.
