C'est Bon which means 'it's good' in French. This shop is inspired by that they make it a little easier and unique, for people to remember and pronounced it by anglicized the phrase and added a 's' at the back.

Their menu is simple and clear cut - Soups, bread, crepes. I sampled their wild mushrooms soup. Not creamy but it has a very fresh and smooth taste. You can just drink it without using a spoon to stir or scoup to drink. So, their packaging for soup is a disposal cup, not bowl with spoon. I bought the seafood bisque as their wild mushrooms soup was sold out when I went back after a movie around 9pm plus. They have tomato soup and broccoli & cheddar soup too.

I will try their crepes and focaccia bread some other time coz I do not have anymore space in my stomach except for the soup. :p

I heard about this Japanese French Restaurant from my Sis, so I went down to their new branch at marina square with my fren.

There was a queue at dinner time. But they are fast and systematic, so my Fren & I din wait for too long. BTW, while waiting, they will serve you coke. Heeheee.

We wanna try their fried tofu but it’s sold out. Alot of the appetizier were sold out, so the waiter recommended us their calamari.

It was not as good as what the waiter said. It’s too salty, no kick. The dipping sauce is the those Japanese potato salad cream. Not suitable for this. It should be tartar sauce. However, if you eat the sauce on it’s own, maybe U will like it. ;P As for me, I like the spring onions and french onions taste. But it really din go well with the salty calamari.

My fren ordered Spaghetti alla neapolitan. The serving is big. My fren gave me some portion of hers to try. I find that it’s a bit spicy, maybe becoz of the green bellpeppers. The sauce is bery “tomatoes”. Not diluted. The black pepper sauages is not too hard, well done.

While for me, I ordered something which I dun really ordered coz normally they tasted horrible but I am willing to give Pasta de Waraku a chance to prove me wrong ~ Carbonara, the waraku style. Yes! It’s Oiishi!!!! Not too creamy, the taste is just right. With the blend of the egg yolk, it’s very smooth. Very different from the normal carbonara which gives me a ’sick’ feeling after eating it. I FINISHED the whole plate, including the sauce. :D Yeah, I also offer some of it to my fren to try. She likes it too!

Before our appetizer and main dishes are served, they will serve us free salad too. :p

        53. 603 Tau Sar Piah
           26 Aug 2007 at 8:41 pm

I am lucky to get a free tasting of their Tau Sar Piah. I went to their shop yesterday with my Dear. There was a queue. Most of them bought the tau sar piah, but my eyes were on the super big Apple pie & the volcano buns. :) Din get to taste the apple pie but I got other stuff like durian fillings, lotus paste fillings, black sesame fillings, yam fillings, and original fillings tau sar piahs, plus chicken pie, volcano bun and tuna puff (which is sardine fillings actually).

I personally prefer the original salty tau sar piah. I am not sure if they do not have it or their's not my kind of taste. They are creative and innovative to try out different kind of fillings. Durian fillings to my surprise is not too sweet. It has a light durian taste. Not overpower. :)

The volcano bun which is the char siew fried/bake buns could taste better if there is some black pepper added. The taste is a bit too salty. Too strong for the crispy thin crust.

Tuna puff is not tuna fillings but spicy sardine if I am not wrong.

Recently, I popped by THE SOUP SPOON to try out their food.

          Spicy Herby Cheesy Wedges
Cheesy? Din taste any cheese actually. But they are crispy though. They go well with the 3 dipper sauces - Garlic Mayo, Chili (normal) and Spicy Mayo

          Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff
“Feels almost like eating fresh mushrooms out of the field. The mushrooms are so smooth, they glide down the throat. This soup is overpowering with the aroma of mushrooms perfect for mushroom lovers.”
It’s label as “Healthier Choice”. So, less salty - not flavourful, but creamy. Half servings is good enough coz it’s very filling and they really give U a bowl FULL. I LOVE the soft bread that goes with it. It’s sweet and soft. I personally still prefer the mushroom soup from White Dog’s Cafe. SOUP SPOON is famous for it’s Boston Clam Chowder. I am yet to try it. I tried the Roasted Pumpkin with Caramelized Apple & Toasted Almonds long time ago, not sure if the receipe has improved.

A must-try dish (according to my fren): Breaded Buttons with Garlic Aioli.
“A simple ingredient: the Button mushroom is well known for it’s subtle and mild taste. We have taken this “simple” mushroom and have stuffed it with Mozerella Cheese and breaded it. Eat it with Garlic Aioli and it only speaks of heaven.”
If I m not wrong, they are brown button mushrooms. The cheese is good…… the mushrooms with breaded crust is unique.

Garlicky Herbed Foccacia - Crunchy! But tastless if without the garlic spread.

            55. Marutama Ramen
               04 Jul 2007 at 1:26 pm
            Category: Japanese
My sis intro me to this new Jap restuarant in THE CENTRAL. She said she din get to try this ramen shop coz by the time she went there with her hubby, the ramen was SOLD OUT. Yeah, it’s around 5pm plus. Why leh… coz it was on Tee Bee mah.

Yeah, my Dear and I were lucky to taste it on Saturday nite around 8pm plus. Their “Yu Zi” refers to their seasoned egg (Ajitsuke Tamago) bah.

It’s very special. Shoyu taste. Half boiled. I came to a conclusion on how it’s made (not sure if it’s correct).
            - marinate the eggs with shelled on in shoyu for days. Like how u made vinegar eggs.
I suspected it’s that way lah. One serving is enough coz it’s very salty.

Another thing must try is the Tori dango (chicken meatballs). Wooo… its Oiishi! A bit sweet and sour. Like the thai tom yam.

My Dear ordered Char Siu Marutama Ramen. The soup based is Chicken soup. They have 3 other soup based on the menu - Chicken soup with raw chili; Prawn soup (Special - limited ed); and Bean soup (Special - limited ed). My Dear added Char Siu (extra Toppings) coz the original ramen only has 2 pcs of Char Siu. You can add other toppings on the menu too. For me, I added Ajitsuke Tamago.Oh… they have fried Garlic for you to add flavours to your Ramen too!

Beverages only - Beer or Wine.. and the FOC Ice water. :)

The chef were Japanese. Think only one assistant chef is not. There are 2 Japanese serving staff and the rest of the serving staff must speak Japanese too. I guess it’s to communicate with the chef.
