Jamie’s Italian   Crispy Squid   Baked Mushrooms   WILD MUSHROOM RAVIOLI   AMALFI LEMON & BASIL ICED TEA
I am a big fan of Jamie Olivier. So when I know that his Jamie's Italian Restaurant is opening in Singapore, I must definitely go and try.

It was said to be affordable Italian cuisine, but I still feel that it's on a higher side. That dinner I had at Jamie's Italian was a treat from a friend. I think we burnt a big hole in her pocket.

The service staff at the front entrance is not very professional. My friend told her that we had a 4 adults and a baby chair for the baby, she argued with my friend that she did not mentioned about the baby and the baby chair. She insisted that she was right and my friend was wrong! Although she did in the end arrange a baby chair for us, we felt super unhappy with her service as she should not had argued with us on a small matter. My friend was super angry, but luckily their other service staff whom served our table were polite and friendlier.

    Our Order:
    1. CRISPY SQUID - $11.50
Fried squid, garlicky mayo & lemon
    2. BAKED MUSHROOMS - $12.50
Swiss browns with crispy “music bread” & smoked buffalo mozzarella
    3. WILD MUSHROOM RAVIOLI - $24.50
Filled with garlic, wild mushrooms & soft ricotta, served with a rich mushroom & tomato sauce
    4. SEAFOOD BUCATINI - $29.50
Tubular spaghetti steamed in a bag with crab, mussels, clams, squid, scallops, capers, chilli, garlic, white wine & juicy sweet tomatoes
    5. GRILLED CHICKEN - $28.00
Grilled garlic & rosemary chicken with a tomato, olive, chilli & caper sauce
    6. FRITTO MISTO - $27.00
Fresh fish & shellfish fried till crispy, served with yuzu mayo
    7. AMALFI LEMON & BASIL ICED TEA - $15.00
A blend of succulent lemon & basil

The crispy squid portion was quite small. The dip was good, the squid itself was normal tasting.

Baked mushroom was delicious! I like the thin bread.

My main dish is the wid mushroom ravioli. I ordered the bigger portion - 8 pieces. Not too bad. But I find it a bit salty.

The amalfi lemon & basil iced tea was not my cup of tea. I do not like english tea without sugar. I asked for sugar syrup, but their sugar syrup tasted like diluted sugar water.

         Crab Ramen   Gyoza
Was there with a friend for lunch. I love their free seasoned beansprouts. It's seasoned with sesame oil and also vinegar (I think).

I went to their other branch - Tonkotsu King Four Seasons at Bugis Village, where they provide free seasoned beansprouts and hard boiled eggs. Over at Parco, only the seasoned beansprouts are available for free.

We had the crab soup based ramen and gyoza. The soup base is thick and flavourful. Those who loves the seafood taste will definitely likes it. The gyoza were good too.

A colleague introduced me to this place, which we had lunch. We ordered individual soya chicken rice, some roast meat & char siew, and a plate of vegetables.

Pricing wise is quite standard this kind of traditional coffee house looking restaurant. Per person is about $4 to $10 bucks.

The special thing I like is the thick soya sauce gravy which makes the rice very savory. The chicken is quite tender, but not as tender as the Chinatown Liu Ji Chicken rice.

I am not a fan of pork lard. They put a lot it on the vegetables but it doesn't make it too oily.

The roast pork is my favourite. Super crispy & tastyThe char siew is so-so.

Try not to visit them during the peak hours. No service will be given. Or you need to have patience for them to take your order. The serving of food is fast, but not the ordering.

saveur.jpg   Chicken Main Dish   Mushroom cappuccino
I was there with a group of friends. Luckily we were early so managed to get a table for four. The food is reasonably priced. I had the mushroom cappuccino and chicken dish (A roulade of chicken thigh stuffed with foie gras-infused chicken farce, creamy basmati rice & parmesan sauce).

The mushroom cappuccino is good. Creamy. Tasty.

The chicken - too salty for my taste though.

The ambiance is good. Nice cosy feeling. The staff are helpful. One of my friend is pregnant and they take special care for her entrance in the crowded space. :)

I will definitely return to try out their other dishes.

Utrecht city is the capital and most populous city of the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is located in the North-Eastern end of the Randstad, and is the fourth largest city of the Netherlands, with a population of 288,535. The smaller Utrecht agglomeration is home to some 420,000 registered inhabitants, while the larger region contains up to 820,000 inhabitants.

Utrecht’s ancient city-centre features many buildings and structures from its earliest origins onwards. It has been the religious centre of the Netherlands since the eighth century CE. Currently it is the see of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the most important Dutch Roman Catholic leader. Utrecht is also the see of an archbishop of the Old Catholic church, and the location of the offices of the main protestant church.

Utrecht is host to Utrecht University, the largest university of the Netherlands, as well as several other institutes for higher education. Due to its central position within the country it is an important transportation hub (rail and road) in the Netherlands. It has the second highest number of cultural events in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam. [source Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utrecht_(city)]

I went to Utrecht, Netherlands, for a Symposium trip. Din expect it to be so cold coz it’s SUMMER (June). The weather went as low as 10degree and the wind is STRONG! I wasn’t prepared. I wore crop pants and slippers. Yesh, I looked super silly. Everyone was in Winter clothing. Me, the silly clown, was shivering in cold. I stayed in Park Plaza Hotel, Utrecht. It’s a 4 stars hotel. It’s more for business stay than for leisure stay. It’s near the Jaarbeurs Convention Centre and the main Train Station. The Dutch are Fit! They mostly travel by foot or by bicycle. Public transport is expensive there. They have a special track for bicycle.

This trip to Netherlands is a real eye-opener for me. For more details of my trip, please visit my blog at http://natsuumi.liquidblade.com. Click under Travel.
