This is the place where my dog visits when something happen to him. Decided to give this place a try when it is quite near to my home.
The doctors and the nurses there are very professional, good and friendly. They are also very patient in answering all the silly questions that I might asked whenever I visit them as well.
They got quite a huge following, whenever I am there, theyre always seems to have a lot of ppl as well.
I know the owner of this cafe and decided to give it a try when me and my friends are nearby.
The placer is a bit small but cosy. The tables are tend to be a bit close together co not much or privacy.
The kitchen cum bar is open concept. So prepared to smell a lot of different food being cooked! Haa.....
The food there got salad, sandwiches etc and I was recommended to try Slow-Roasted Pulled Pork. It was good! The meat is tender, no fats and simply melts in my mouth. Hee.... If you cannot decided what you wanna to eat and got a group of frens, maybe you can try the platter of sandwiches, which come with soup as well.
Their desserts also got a lot, cakes to pudding. I loved their chocolate cake pudding. Not too sweet and not too bitter as well. Jz nice.
The place tend to attract more students as it is linked to the tution centre above the cafe.
I am also a fan of TCC. Always would try to hang out there to chit chat with my frens whiel waiting for the movie to start.
It is a place that serves a wide variety of coffee and tea, both hot and cold. I loved their Jap red bean ice blend drink, and other special types of drink that they had mixed. Their coffee offer the widest choice to choose from. Usually I will jz go for their mocha. Hee....
Their food, both snacks and main, are great. I loved their wedges, fried mushrooms and many more. Main dish, I like their chicken chop together with a curry. Nice!
The deco in this outlet is good espcially inside the sofa areas. If you had not been there, give this place a try when you walk past it next time! Rememebr to ask for air con seats to try out their sofa ok! Hee....
Decided to try their donuts when 8 Days recommended their donuts. The queue was not that long but still a good 20 mins wait.
The variety of the donuts is not a lot compared to others. Got an assorted set. After tasting a few, not really impressed with the donuts, find them a bit too sweet for liking. Too me it is jz like overated dough!
Been there once before both 4th level and 8th level. Personally I prefer the 8th level as the room are larger and the sofa and everything seems in better shape.
One thing that impress me on the 8th level is they used wireless mic instead of wired mics and it is a big plus. Hee..
The drinks there are quite standard nothing to shout out about but getting on the smaller side.
The songs are up to date but sometimes the system reaction to the remote control is a bit slow.
One thing good about Kbox is if you booked the room until midnight and no one books the room after midnight they will aloow you to sing until someone is taking over the room.
I received this eDM (electronic Direct Mailer) in my mailbox. From the design, I thought it was an atas club with nice stylo-mylo oriental music, possibly nostalgic and even some Shanghai Jazz too, interior decor that would make Shanghai Tang really proud and service that would come from a team of waitresses dressed in ankle length cheongsam.
So when Lunar opened, I got the girlfriend along with her friends to check the place out. Like all club openings, the place was packed and music booming.
Once we entered, the attention was on the large screen which was screening Rain's concert, with fans screaming in the background. There was hardly any room and on the first level, we decided to move up to the second floor. I was quite impressed by the lift and the waitress team that played lift attendants. Judging from their looks and grasp of English language, they were all our foreign talent directly from China. Good and Bad. Good because it sort of upped the kinky fantasies quotient. Bad because, well, you know how the locals think about foreign talent... Since we are on the topic of the waitresses, their uniform was functional, especially the striking bob wig, which makes for easy identification in the dimmed environment. The whole package with the short cheongsam dress, stockings and boots however reignites the debate of whether Singapore's very own Annabelle Chong should be considered trailer trash or local pop culture icon. There was hardly any standing room and it was rather difficult snaking through the crowd. When we managed to find an available spot to rest at, the live music started. The first reaction by the ladies was, "Bad singing of even worse songs." A quick inspection and we realized it was a live band on stage. The female vocalists only scored in the looks department, singing wasn't great and failed to carry the feeling of the songs. Their attempts on interpretation failed spectacularly. Male vocalists weren't any better and looked liked the sharpei (Peking bulldog). Just when I thought the music could get any worse, the band got off stage and house music resumed... Guess what? They spun Afro-American Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B. Tak match to the extreme can!
Even though a waitress had previously taken our order, the drinks never came. Due to the crowds and the demand for the free drinks, we only managed to get one drink each after lots of pushing and shoving. I was pleasantly surprised by a quiet but friendly bartender who diligent served up requests of drinks.
We took our time to finish our drinks. One of the ladies wanted to hit the dance floor but was promptly discouraged by its emptiness. We decided to take our leave but also have a good look at the interior decor which was really nicely done up.
Some rather nice paintings too. There were also some racier ones on the ceiling, but I missed out taking photos of them. Guys, don't hate me for depriving you of those artistic paintings.
The ladies particularly liked this throne and spontaneously hammed it up there...
And the same pictures with some styling...
And just as we thought the first band couldn't get any worse, another ensemble took the the stage...
We waited for their first piece only to be disappointed and appalled yet again by the quality of sound made. It likened to the ad-hoc performances in Chinatown which employed Mainland Chinese ladies prancing around on stage looking as if they played the Chinese instrument.
So Lunar seemed to know nuts about Oriental music. Perhaps they should consult the Esplanade's producer for Huayi Festival for its musical direction. Seriously, the concerts there are much more happening.
Had dim sum at Victor's. Quality is quite good while prices are relatively cheap.
Victor's custard buns were probably one of the better ones that I've tried so far, with the custard milky, smooth and moist while the bun soft, fluffy and warm. The only thing that's lacking is the richness of the custard, which I did find a little lacking. Maybe I'm just picky.
Tasty Chicken (Hong Kong Style) - I didn't find this dish too fantastic as the taste of the rice wine was overwhelming and personally, I'm not really a fan of chicken cooked this way.
The Char Siew Cheong Fun was probably one of the weakest links in Victor's offerings. The skin was a little too thick and came across as rather starchy, unlike the silky smooth and translucent thin skins that good cheong funs should have. The char siew was rather normal as well, which kinda sealed the fate for this dish.
The Tasty Queen size Siew Mai wasn't really queen size per se. It was just slightly bigger than your average siew mai. What I liked about it was that the proportion of fatty meat to lean meat was relatively low, which didn't make me queasy after eating too much. But the skin was a tad too dry though
A hot favourite amongst customers, the prawns in the har gao were very fresh, albeit not too crunchy. The skin was nicely done, lightly stretchable and not too thick, but please eat it when its still hot.
Marginally smooth with a fair amount of bite best describes the Scallop, Sausage Carrot Cake. Sure it isn't exactly near the best that I've eaten, but for the price, no one's complaining. One gripe though, I couldn't taste or make out any traces of scallop or sausage in the carrot cake. Talk about misrepresentation.
Maybe its a norm to call it something as grand as phoenix porridge in Hong Kong, but in Singapore, we call it pi dan chow, or century egg porridge. Victor's rendition wasn't the least bit impressive, being average at best. The porridge tasted like normal slightly runny porridge with small pieces of century egg and prawn balls in it.
A filling dim sum brunch for 2 pax cost us about $20, which is cheap for the above average quality dim sum that you get. Of course there are better ones out there, but don't forget that they cost a lot more too. Try this place out, but please don't get your expectations too high and you will enjoy it.
Likle the waffles there and I always go there on Tuesday. Seem like evey outlet is usually very packed on Tuesday due to their Waffles Day's Promotion.
There got a few different types of waffles and my fav has to be chocolate waffle where they mixed chocolate chip into the waffle. Together with the chocolate waffle, I will add in a scoop of ice creams, a lot of flavours to choose from, my fav is macadiam nut ice cream (paradon for the spelling).
Eat their waffles with jz maple syrup is also good enough. They used to have free flow of plain water, however now got to buy the small bottle of water from them. Bad move. Hmm....
When Cafe Cartel first appear in Singapore, I used to go there quite often cos the reasonable price and good food. However, its standard in both service and food started to go downhill and I did not go so often already.
The service was quite bad as usually had to go in and look for my own seats. Had to wait for the waiter to take the order and it is very difficult to get hold of the very busy waiters, maybe there are understaffed. They usually will forgot one or two orders and had to wait for a very long for the food to arrive or the dessert will arrive earlier than the main dish itself.
Once I ordered chicken cutlet (forgot the actual name of the dish) and when it arrive, the small piece of chicken is coated with a very thick layer of flour and the inner portion was uncooked due to the thick layer.
The food are the usual stuff nothing impressive. The only impressive thing are the free bread! But then it is not enough to make me go back.
This small little japanese looking bakery and cafe is introduced by my fren. It is hidden in a small little corner in Holland Village, opp Subway.
She started buying the small little wassant (corssant -looking bread) for me. It comes in both chocolate and custard filling. Once I tasted it, I was hooked on it and longed for more. The wassant are hot items, usually out before noon and they will be sold out before 3pm.
Once I was there, a basket around 10 packets are being brought out, within mins, the basket is empty. They are pre packed, either mixed or all same flavour. Each packet will 10 wassants insides.
There is a certain way of eating it and I like to eat it layer by layer.
Other than this, there is also a wide variety of other breads like milk bun, cheese bun and sandwiches. Tasted some of then and proved to be good.
Can also called them in advance to order the wassants, but I think have to be certain quantity and above before they allow you to book!

My Parting Note on Lunar
Lunar to me is pretty much like Café Del Mar (Sentosa) where the music failed to fit its image. The management probably didn't think the crowds would appreciate anything that is non-mainstream. Great effort in the decor, but it fails spectacularly by missing the complete experience by miles.
