Finally had the chance to take a 4.5hr ride to Shanghai on SQ biz class but only for 1-way which is better than having none.

I was frankly a little disappointed at the biz class seats as I had expected partitioned seats like what I saw in their ads but than again it was my fault for not checking out the plane model to verify that.

Service was obviously alot better flying at this category, right from check in, luggage limited, and the Krisflyer Silver Lounge at the airport which provided free food and drinks. They even have Tiger on tap, but then again not so good an idea to be tipsy on board.

You are greeted by first name when you are identified as a Biz class passenger which always seem to have that special personal touch. You are invited to look at the biz class menu and choice of drinks - couldn't resist having a glass of bubbly.

The lunch itself was so much more elaborate, with starters, main course, desserts. The starter of satay was impressively good, and main course of fish was average actually, and dessert being a dark chocolate ice cream with mango thingy was very good.

I am terribly impressed at their efforts to clean my mum's entertainment screen - she asked for help as it was marked quite badly and she couldn't see the screen properly. 2 different stewardness came with first a dry cloth, then a wet cloth, and still the stubborn stain refused to go away. At this stage we were abit embarrassed at how hard they were trying and said its okay, never mind. 5mins later, a senior stewardess came with a bottle of perfume and cloth, and voila, the screen was clean! Kudos to their excellent service!

The biz class seat would have set me back by about 2k but this was sponsored so I was lucky. If I were to pay, perhaps I will not and instead choose a longer flight time no doubt more expensive but you know, just so you can enjoy the experience a little more. But check the airplane model.

Oh, and this model that I unfortunately took has this annoying silly system of running their movies on auto-pilot one after another (interjected with commercials etc) with no option to start a movie from afresh if you want to. So you either have to be very lucky to catch the beginning of a movie you like, or end up watching 2 halves of 2 movies.

Travelling with Singapore Airlines is so far, so good. I must say, its services are at par with global standards; no wonder, it is capable of providing its passengers the real comfortable experience. SIA is what a flag carrier should be. I hope some owners or executives of other flag carriers must take SIA flights and take the opportunity to learn about the airline’s best practices and probably, apply them on their own. Just like the country it represents, SIA does not content with mediocrity; instead, it continues to reinvent and improve itself to be the best. From the few flag carriers I traveled with, SIA is on top of my list. Keep up the great work err flight!

Have always travelled on SIA ever since i started travelling, be it short or long haul. Will usually select special meals (seafood). They usually serve special meals first. The seafood meal is good as it uses fish or prawn. You can always change your seating at the SIA website and also print your boarding pass, saving you lotsa time. The lavatory stocks disposable toothbrushes, shavers and cologne. Will also order the S'pore Sling everytime. The taste differs each time due to the different cabin crew mixing it and also the different component quantities used. Service is good as always and they'll go out of their way to make you comfortable and cosy.

When you travel overseas, achieving what you set out to do in the destination is the singular most important part of the process. In doing that, one contends with culture shock, unfamiliar environment, climate and time zone change, jetlag etc.

And the last thing one needs is coping with more hassles getting there and back. Air travel brings with it a whole host of other potential problems such as punctuality (whether caused by weather, politics, natural and man-made calamities or aircraft serviceability etc). There are airlines which treats you like just another passenger - unless you travel in the front pointy end of the plane and there are airlines - relatively few airlines - that do a great job making earning your loyalty and trust. And one such airline is Singapore Airlines.

Sure there are those who don't find their cabin staff chatty enough but hey, did you buy an air ticket for a chat at cruise altitude? In delivering its core competencies in the most professional and caring manner possible, SIA consistently hit the mark and often exceed it. I flew SIA more than 100 times in the last 25 years and I have perhaps only been irate enough to consider providing a negative feedback just once. Yes only just once. You talk about consistency, SIA understands what that means.

It possibly one of the greatest way to fly.

Simply the best? Most likely. I took SIA twice. Once in 2003 and the other time was last November. The first time was to KL and the other was to Brunei (it was a connecting flight from Dubai to Brunei). On both flights, I had experienced great customer service, food and drinks. The crew members were always smiling and asking us if we were hungry and so forth. Although the service is excellent, the pricing of their tickets is certainly too steep. My 2nd flight was in fact a replacement flight from Royal Brunei as I had missed my connecting flight to Singapore due to a flight delay in London. Certainly would take SIA if the prices are right.

I had my experience once during my flight from SG to shanghai. That flight was full and the food serve portion indeed was quite small for a big eater for me. My colleague ask the air stewardess for additional portion if there's possible and the air stewardess jokingly mentioned that add rice need to pay extra 50 cents. Even though at the end, I didn't take their offer for the extra meals, but that air stewardess did tried to ask me if I am enough with the food whenever she passby my row.
And she was one of the senior staff (judging from her uniform).
I would says that their service does varies, not all are good but yet not all are bad.
Anyway I would say that they are at least better than other European/US airline cabin crew.

I am quite sad to say that even as a Singaporean, the first plane that I seat on was not a Singapore Airlines plane. Recently, I finally had the chance to sit on one. Hee….. Once step into the plane, it is pretty much like stepping into any other airlines plane, clean and tidy. Along the way, there will be friendly and smiling air steward or stewardess to guide and help you to get to your seat. After which, they would start serving hot towels to everyone as well. If I did not manage to get a copy of Straits Time before I board the plane, I would ask for a copy. Sad to say once in a while, the air stewardess would forget about it.

While on the plane, they did their best to keep us comfortable, and try to keep up with all our requests. Their service was really good when it comes to serving drinks and meals. This is definitely their plus point here. When it comes to their food, well it seems that they only changed their menu every two months, so in the end, I got to every dish in the menu over and over again. *Mental note: To request for special meals when booking tickets next time*

Next come to their entertainment system. Sad to say I am not very impressed with the system as it tends to fail me a few times or required a few times of reset. It is also a bit slow in reaction as well. At least they do change the movies every month so at least I got new movies to watch. It would be much better if they give better quality earphones. Once the system at the seat I was seating was defective, so they gave me a US$50 voucher to use for the KrisShop. Hee…. Too bad it can be only used on the plane.

All in all, I quite liked the service onboard the plane as they would make customers as comfortable as possible.
