I'm one of those people who relish the convenience of having a car now and then but don't want to fork out the money to buy and maintain one, so I chose car sharing!
Whizzcar is one of the few companies in Singapore that offer car-sharing programme. You just pay a monthly membership fee, and pay whenever you use the car. Rates of "sharing" the car differs for different plans and the car you choose and it can be as low $9 per hour for a car and $7 per hour for a van! Even better, the rates are INCLUSIVE of petrol but every reservation has a certain limited mileage and you have to pay extra if you exceed the free mileage.
I signed up a couple of years back and have no regrets. Reservation is convenient, just go online and pick and choose the car you want from the nearest location. Just pick it up from the location and return it after use! There’s also a variety of cars to choose from for different needs. The best thing is it gives me the convenience of using a car anytime when I require.
One bad point about Whizzcar though is that the locations are quite limited. But not a big problem for me as there’s one near my place. Another problem is sometimes you may not be able to book the car you want as it had been reserved by someone else. But booking early solves this problem!
Overall, it’s convenient and not taxing on your wallet. Recommended!
