I went to this outlet with my family last weekend before the lunch crowd arrived so we only had to wait for 10-15mins before getting a seat. We took the al-fresco seats outside as the weather was cooling after a short rain earlier on.

The moment we saw our table, it was in an awkard position just outside the door which is dumb. Normally people do not put tables in the path of a doorway. Its cramp & we requested for a table at the extreme end & the waiter immediately said 'No', 'Cannot'.... Citing the reason to be rain when the weather is clear without any sign of a dark cloud. In addition the area we requested to move to has shade under the umbrella so I dont see the problem. We even had to suggest them to move the tables around for space of 5pax.

Being in a restaurant service, how is it that they can tell a customer those forbidden words like 'no' & 'cannot'. Even the manager was not in the least concerned about this issue & went about her own business.

The food was fabulous unfortunately the service was not.

HFB is happy to announce that a new Astons Specialities has finally come to TOWN and is located at The Cathay Building!

With its simple wood-based furbishing and its signatured chalkboard indicating the Special of the Day, HFB couldn’t resist himself but be tempted by the promotion screaming WAGYU RIBEYE Grade 5/6 - $38.90nett [including 2 side dishes] and end up ordering it along with Sweet Corn and Coleslaw.

The sweet corn patted with butter was satisfyingly sweet – love it! As for the coleslaw, I would prefer the cut of the veggies be thinner, but otherwise it was normal.

Grilled to a perfect charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside, what sets this wagyu ribeye apart from the normal ribeye is the tenderness of the meat - marbled with monounsaturated fats; the natural juices that gushed out with each chew were such a delight! Also, the lingering tint of sweetness on the palate was pure enjoyment.

But coming back to reality, HFB wasn’t fully satisfied with 200gm of meat, and he was harbouring over his dining partner’s Prime Ribeye X’tra Cut ($16.50nett) that was much thicker and bigger.

Besides nicely cooked to medium rare, what HFB found lacking in the wagyu, was ironically satisfied by the X’tra Cut – the “Beefy” taste!

A personal preference, HFB believes a beef should taste like beef and that was somehow missing from the wagyu, or perhaps he is just not used to eating wagyu.

value for money! i give this aston's outlet two thumbs up!

with their chicken dishes going at $6.50-$9 range, and steak at $12.90-$18.90, it's really worth the bucks! what's more there is no 10% service charge, so you need only to pay the GST.

downside is, the queue gets rather long during dinner hours, especially during weekends. it's a small outlet so seats are quite limited. go there early on weekdays if you wish to be spared the wait!

inside seating ard 50pax - outside seating ard 40 pax. I usually head there after my 7 show just in time for the last order! And the best part is I do not have to Q.
