    A girl's paradise of accessories~ :)

Montip sells hair accessories to handphone accessories, small coin purses to large bags, and other accessories like earrings, badges, rings, bra-straps and special accessories with bling-blings (eg, tiaras and large bling-bling necklaces).

The items are trendy and comes with a very reasonable price tag. :) I love the fact that there is a large variety for any single item found there. A simple thing like a hairclip can be available in different colours and designs, shapes and sizes that..you would be spoilt for choice!

It's really difficult to make decisions there. Haha.. :P

However, Montip's branches seem to have decreased over the years, and..this paradise of accessories is only found in certain places now.. I only know of its branches at Tampines Mall and Great World City. =)

Honestly, I hardly go to HMV on normal days to purchase CDs or VCDs. However, HMV is the one place that I must drop by when I am in search of an 'outdated' or special imported CD.

HMV, being the largest music store around, just seems to provide the best example of an all rounded music experience. Having stocks from the past to the most recent music releases, HMV strikes me as a place which tries it's very best to fulfil and help every music lover get their music. :)

Differentiating every CD to their individual genre, it really makes things easier when one is in search of a particular CD of that music genre. From experience, the staff were also very helpful and friendly while aiding you, whenever you feel lost searching through the piles of CDs.

I recall that HMV also does sell some of the CDs/VCDs at lower prices, when compared to other music stores. This is really a good bargain for students especially, to get the CDs they want, at a much lower price. :) Of course, the CD may be slightly outdated, but hey, it is never late to purchase music records that you like.

Music crosses language boundaries, and time puts no stop to it as well. :)

Despite seeing the tempting and delicious looking pictures of the food available at Sakura website, the whole view and variation of the actual thing wasn't as appetising.

I went to the branch at Toa Payoh and..frankly speaking, the variety seemed very little and looked kind of pathetic. I'm not sure if it was as such because it was at the end of the day during dinner time, or..otherwise. Yet, it was disappointing to note that not only was there little variety in the buffet, but also that the quality of the food did not seem up to the mark of being an "international cuisine" buffet.

They really do cater some variations of Japanese, Western and Chinese food, like sushi and mussels etc. However, the common foodfare like chicken wings and onion rings just did not attract me. I just felt that it was not enough to satisfy my tastebuds that were dying for an international buffet of a higher standard and a larger variation.

Priced at $24 for adults during dinner time, it felt a little steep and overpriced as well. If the food really looked like the ones on their website, I wouldn't mind paying that amount. But sadly, it wasn't.

Money was just not worthily paid for the meal. :(

    34. Fishermen’s Wharf

Tucked discreetly along the shophouses opposite the newly opened Central Shopping Cente at Clarke Quay, Fishermen’s Wharf is a one stop place where you will be able to get your favourite type of fish and chips!

At Fishermen’s Wharf, you can choose from different types of fishes that you would like your fish and chips to be made from. From the common Cream Dory (which most restaurants use to prepare fish and chips) to Atlantic Cod fish. More importantly, the prices there are really reasonable too! If I do not recall wrongly, the usual fish and chips is priced at $6.50.. :) The price increases though, if you choose to have other types of fish.

I went there for lunch once, and had the usual cream dory fish and chips. Comparing it to the fish and chips you'd normally find in other western restaurants in Singapore, the fish and chips at Fishermen’s Wharf is relatively bland and dry. However, it does allow one to really savour the real taste of the fish~

Ambience wise.. It was kind of quiet and laid back when I went there in the afternoon. No crowds at all. It's quite a good place to enjoy the afternoon and have small talks with your friends. Yet..do note that the place is not airconditioned~ :P

    35. Bangkok

    tinkerbell tinkerbell says:

Bangkok is affectionately known as "The Land of Smiles" and..it's somewhat true. People do greet you with a smile at some places and it's nice to just feel that sense warmth in a foreign country. :)

Life in Bangkok bustles with activities, especially at night. Do visit the night/weekend markets while you are there, as those places are really good for shopping~ It also gives you a look of how the locals live and get to know some of their cultures as well. Don't worry if you don't speak Thai, as most shop owners either know Mandarin, a dialect or some English, well enough for you to bargain and make your purchases. :)

However, the air there is quite bad. So..if you happen to be just as curious as I was, to experience their culture first-hand by hopping onto a 'tuk tuk', be sure to take a good bath when you get back to the hotel. =P

Getting onto cabs would be a good choice, if not for the drivers' preference to settle a lump sum of cab fare, instead of following the meter. Some cab drivers can be quite adamant to not follow the meter, which puts you at a disadvantage as you'll never know if he's overcharging you.

The BTS (Bangkok Transit System) Skytrain would be a good choice if your destinations are within walking distances of the station, as it's really convenient and clean. :)

Oh, be sure to be careful when you leave your hotel at night. Some private vehicles may be waiting nearby, and offer to bring you to a certain restaurant for a good dinner etc. Though my family and I were fine after following that guy..but the restaurant's food turned out to be just average yet a little expensive. And..thinking back, it was really kind of dangerous. So..do beware of these people~

A good destination for a short trip to relax and just soak in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. :)

One thing that stands out at New York New York, is the long~ queues that you see outside the branches at CityLink or Ang Mo Kio Hub. Kind of makes you wonder, "what's so attractive about New York New York?", doesn't it?

Personally, I like New York New York for it's ambience and the cushioned seats, where I can chill and just have comfortable and nice talks with my friends while dining there. :)

However, with regards to their food, it was quite okay in my opinion. I had their pastas on the 2 occasions that I went, and they were okay. Nothing very special or extremely good that I'll recommend. Oh, but do note that the portions are in quite large.. x)

Hmm. The only thing that kind of stops me dining at New York New York, is their service.

Most of the staff are young and seemed new to their jobs. I can understand their stand when things get hectic and busy. However, they do provide less than acceptable service even when it wasn't the peak period!

I was at their branch at AMK Hub, and was frustrated when I wanted to get attention for some service. The 2 waitresses were just standing near the counters talking, and after trying for some time, they were still oblivious to our needs. It was disappointing that they were not vigilant, especially after making mistakes with our orders earlier. =/

Maybe New York New York should build up a more friendly and efficient service in the future..

Oh..you can get free cotton-candy there too! :)

Soft toys, stationery, photo-frames, cups/glasses etc.. These may sound common, but the variety of these items found in More Than Words are diversified and quite attractive.

More Than Words is the answer to your dilemma of getting gifts for your friends & your loved ones! :)

Walking into More Than Words always make me awed by the great range of items, big and small, in the shop. It makes me feel like a kid in her magic wonderland. =P Although some of the items are really common, but some other gift items are also found to be interestingly designed. Ah and there are many items with popular Disney and comic characters found there too.

Also, More Than Words has a wide range of prices for the gifts sold, which caters to the various age groups. Students can therefore easily fork out some cash to buy a suitable present for their friends or siblings there, while young adults may also find certain gifts there appropriate for those young at heart. =)

Oh, and if I do not remember wrongly, More Than Words has some of their stuffed toys readily wrapped and placed on the shelves. This makes it really convenient for those who are searching for a gift at the very last minute.. :)

Hmm..personally, I have not met with any incidents that gave me bad impressions of our bus drivers.

Instead, I have met with quite a few that are polite, courteous and were really serving the passengers to the best they could.

Two of the drivers I met, greeted every single passenger that went onboard the bus, with a smile. I was taken aback in fact, not used to a greeting aboard the bus, yet..it was heartwarming to have someone greet and smile at you when you are getting to work or school everyday, repeating the dull cycle and fighting the morning rush to get to your destination. A real chore, to be honest. Yet..the greet and smile certainly made the start of my day, a little better. :)

The other driver even took it to another level by announcing the destination of every next stop! Really, though I wondered if anyone was listening hard enough, it was really a heartwarming and interesting gesture that..I really appreciated. It's really not easy to be doing that, and..these little gestures really made my day. :)

Another encounter with a A-star driver, was just a few weeks back, where the weather outside was pouring cats and dogs. This particular driver was really thoughtful and made sure all his passengers got on and off the bus dry. Even when passengers at the bus stop were holding umbrellas and started walking the bus, which was behind, he made it a point to assure them, and motioned for them to wait at the stop, as he would move forward for them to board after the bus in front had left.

Also, more than once did I hear bus drivers patiently explaining enquiries about the directions/routes and bus numbers to passengers alike, and some even made the effort to inform these passengers when they have reached their destination.

Little gestures can mean so much. :)

I went exploring Arab Street, Haji Lane and other connecting lanes the other day, and in a beautiful lane,we spotted Blue Oasis.

Tucked in the heart of Kampung Glam, Blue Oasis is sitting in the midst of the amazing and interesting shops, waiting to be discovered, to serve those who are tired and in need of a comfortable zone for resting.

Ambience is really cosy and just puts your mind at ease, as you lay back and relax in the warm ambience. Looking out, you will be able to see the trees and shophouses opposite, through the traditional windows of Blue Oasis. Beautiful. And quiet. =)

A really wonderful place for you to put your heart at ease, to rest and really to just stop and take a break, look at the things around you. Furthermore, Blue Oasis offers Internet access, merchandise for sale and rental of the space where yoga lessons or private functions may be held.

Ah..beside enjoying the peace and ambience, the food is good too. :) Though..the portions were not huge, but I had their chicken chop and it was delicious. Mocha Freeze was also thick and really a delight, especially when the weather was blazing hot. Prices were really reasonable, and the service was excellent. :)

It's just a 5-minute walk from Bugis MRT station, and few people would know about it I guess. So..do check it out if you want a relaxing place for a meal, admist the rich cultural heritage environment!

A really nice place to chill and stay away from the hustle and bustle of the usual restaurants in the city. :)

I agree with genesis's review above that Manhanttan Fish Market has really good fish and chips! Unlike fish and chips at some other places, which are dry or too oily for liking, the fish served in MFM is really tasty and delicious. It melts in the mouth and oozes with delightable taste of the freshness.

I went there once and..i really like the cosy ambience..but yeah, would prefer it to be quieter to enjoy small talks with my friends. Yet overall, it was still okay, and the service was quite good. =)

Visit MFM if u love fish and seafood~ :)
