Time for me to write a review in a long while, and I shall start with this since I have no clue what other places to review as yet.

Tucked at the very junction between the exit of Harbourfront Station and the basement walkway, lies this delightful place called Candy Empire.

The second branch since Millenia Walk, this place offers what the name suggest, CANDIESSS!! You can find all sorts of candies here. Products ranges from chocolates, gummies, lollipops, sweets, biscuits, chips and many more.

I am not pretty sure about the rest but I do know that most of their chocolates and sweets are imported from Australia. That explains the difference in price if comparing those that can be found in the supermarkets. Pricing could be a factor that drives people away, especially at such time with all that inflation going on. But for those who are candy lovers, pricing is thrown out of the windows. A must visit for all sweet toothed angels.

What I would comment is that if you are looking for the common products such as Mars, Snickers and Crunch commonly found in supermarkets, avoid purchasing here. I would come here to buy products that are not that common, or only available in Australia which is specially imported in. My favourite hunt here would be the Mars Pods, Smith's Potato Chips and the Mint Flavoured M&Ms.

Otherwise, just come by and take a look. You might end up finding that special something even if you may not come with the intention to buy. Happy Snacking!

This has got to be one of the affordable, yet delectable places for Japanese food. I went there to celebrate my friend's birthday over a meal, which was my 2nd trip to this outlet.

The ambience is a pretty relaxed, yet laidback style of surrounding. A pretty simple décor that is not too complicated on the eyes. Taking the balcony seats could allow you to take a peek at the hustle and bustle of the busy shoppers in Bugis Junction.

As per my previous review on the Marina outlet, MOF tends to employ many foreigners for service staffs. Likewise, the bugis outlet has a significant amount of Burmese (Myanmar) and Chinese mix. The staff doesn't understand the name of the dish when we are ordering, so she quoted the number of the dish instead. I think the staffs could have done better in terms of their product knowledge, even from the simplest of memorising the dish name.

Had a potato salad for a started. It was not bad, with small chunks of apples in inside. I wasn't feeling hungry, so I just had a Karaage Udon. The chicken is normal, what can I say? Lol. The udon is soft and QQ. And the soup is pretty rich. For those that can take spicy food, do try adding the chilli powder that is provided which adds taste to the soup. Wasn't in the mood for dessert either (how strange), but do try their desserts out when you come. They are most famous for their desserts. The kokigori is a recommendation. Comes in many flavours such as chocolate, strawberry, mango, peach, milo, red bean and many more.

After all, the service level today was better than my 1st visit. More due to the fact we weren't in during the peak hour. Service was prompt, but I wasn't satisfied that they always forget to refill my water and often wanting to pour green tea into my cup. Why? Because they don't bother to purchase separate cups for water, and uses the same cup as the rest drinking green tea. Such an annoyance.

We were having a budget to accommodate everyone. But for good taste and affordable food, this is one place to try.

I was pretty hesitant about this concept store as there were many of such stores back then. Many stalls are replicating the success of the $1.99 shop, and jumping on the bandwagon in hope of getting businesses over. Some of the items sold are of mediocre quality and below par standard.

This particular Daiso was the first flagship store in Singapore, and I roamed the place when it first opened in Singapore back in 2002. Back in my mind I was thinking, aren't Japanese made products supposed to be expensive?

All the items here are priced at $2 nett. You can find a whole range of useful items here; ranging from snacks, tools, utensils, boxes, stationeries, containers, home essentials and many more. It is advisable to take a walk around as you may bump into something interesting which you may not find anywhere else.

This outlet is relatively more neat and tidy than the Vivocity and Plaza Singapura outlet, but all of their outlets are well maintained so it's not a hassle to find the products you need. The staffs are also friendly, when I enquire about the location of specific item, they were able to point out and lead me there.

In fact, this place has been very successful in Japan for many years. And this has proved to be a hit among Singaporeans too. Cheap, affordable, essential and useful!

Seems like everyone else here is using MaxOnline by Starhub. Wondering if anyone else here uses the Mio plan by Singtel?

Well, I'm one of their user. Having been a SingNet user for many years, I was tempted to switch to Mio once the offer was there. I do not have Starhub Cable so that does not tie me down in my decision to take up Mio.

The connection speed has been consistent and only the usual slight hiccup here and there as with other service providers.

I do save a bit on my bills as well. It's a hefty lot if I were to pay my mobile, broadband and home line bills separately.

They do provide pay TV in the form of Mio TV, but the channels are not very attractive at this moment. Wait till Singtel wins over some of the bidding for channels, as shown recently by winning the coveted media right to the Champions League, much to the dismay of the Starhub users.

          15. SMRT Buses
             20 May 2008 at 9:29 pm
          Category: Transportation
Some of you may still remember a few year back this was the Trans-Island Bus Services (TIBS) that managed these buses. These are the yellow or red/white buses you see on the roads.

The bus drivers (by the way, only SBS terms their drivers 'Captains') are by large, rude and reckless. They tend not to care about the safety of their passengers. They like to move off fast and drive at high speed. So it also leads to a tendency to 2, 3 buses coming together at the same time. As recent as today, this driver took lane 3 of a 3 lane road and did a turn to the right. It was such a risky move and could cause mishap and confusion among road users.

Another thing people often criticise SMRT buses for are the seats. It can cause skin irritation as germs and bacteria could cumulate in the furry seats. If you're not convinced, try hitting the seat and see the particles floating out.

I really look towards their proposed move of revamping their fleet of buses, much needed really. Things such as changing the furry seats, changing the floorboard and stuffs. Come mid-may, they are going to introduce some new buses! The Mercedes-Benz Euro V bus series. I'm riding in a Mercedes soon!! Haha.

But seriously, they really need to take a good look at the level of service and consideration that the drivers offer to the passengers. There needs to be a review to ensure a pleasant trip for all to enjoy. Public transport is something we will consume for most part of our life, and we as consumers do deserve better service and treatment on our part, right?
