Like everyone else I went for a complimentary back rub at Ngee Ann and was served by one of the membership consultants. She was very persistent and finally convinced me to sign for a mid-range package. I told her that I was not sure I had altogether that much in my credit card account, so she tried the amount. Sure enough, the transaction did not go through. Without asking, she tried another large amount, which did go through. Then she asked me for another credit card to top up the amount.

I was shocked that she did not consult me on the amount before swiping my card. (for instalments plans, you cannot void the transaction easily as you would for normal purchases)

    Never mind.

Subsequently I tried calling her to make an appointment to consume these massages, but was never able to get her, or when I did get her, she was very gruff and uncooperative.

I decided to visit Cuppage instead and I am very pleased with the customer service here. They even call you a few days before the appointment in case you forget.

The ambience is good, soft lighting, mood music, friendly staff. Apart from a few, most of the masseuse are very skilled and customer oriented.

I wouldnt suggest anyone sign up with True Spa, but if you do, consider doing your treatments at Cuppage. It's a nice place to live out your investment.

Curry Fish Head   Chennai Cabbage   Chicken 65   Fish & Potato Cutlet   Plain Naan
      Ambience
We like the open concept kitchen where you can actually watch the chefs busy at work preparing all the food. Gives us the feeling that everything is freshly cooked. Although at times, you will get smoke wafting out and getting into your clothes and hair.

      Staff
Very friendly staff, always smiling, always willing to help out with the smallest request.

      Our Fave Recommendations
      - Muthu's Signature Curry FishHead (from $20). Tender, fleshy morsels of fish swimming in a flavourful curry that is not too spicy.
      - Briyani rice ($3 per person) or Naan (from $3 per piece) go very well with the curry. Wash your hands and eat with your fingers for maximum taste sensations. Finger licking good!
      - Fish & Potato Cutlet ($4, two pieces) nice texture and delicious. Use it to sop up the curry
      - Chennai Cabbage ($5) cos we like a little crunchy vegetables in our meal
      - Chicken 65 ($9) mildly spicy marinated chicken pieces which complement the fish dishes
      - Lime juice ($3.50) tends to be very sweet, ask for more iced water to dilute

A bit pricey, so we only eat at Muthu's during special occasions.

           My recommendation for dessert
The main boutique (not the open concept one) is a great place for after-dinner drinks and dessert. We love to pop by after shopping at Bugis Junction or Iluma for some peace and quiet, and to rest our weary legs.

It's not often noisy or boisterous and has nice booth seats for larger groups. We prefer to lounge on the wide and comfy armchairs and just vegetate.

Wifi is available at certain spots in the cafe and the friendly staff are always at hand with helpful connection hints. We've made friends with some of them and they seem to be very personable and actually remember their regulars.

For non-coffee drinkers like myself, you just have to try the hot Lemon Ginger Green Tea ($7.80 ) together with a slice of the delicious Cocoa Orange Cointreau cake ($6.00 ). Wait for the rush, then lean back in your chair and sigh. This is the life!

             Claypot Crab Beehoon
Always a pleasure to dine in at this outlet. We especially enjoy their personal servings of Claypot Crab BeeHoon ($18) with one whole Sri Lankan crab each, reasonable portion of coarse beehoon, cooked in a flavourful broth with tender morsels of cooked yam hidden in the depths. Yum! Very fulfilling!

The usual crab utensils are provided, so it's not a problem getting the fresh morsels of crabmeat out of the shell. The top of the claypot can be used to drain the crab pieces (soup is hot) so that you can enjoy the noodles in between bites of crab.

After dinner, we like to tapow either their famous Chicken Pies or Kueh Lapis for breakfast or tea the next day.

Staff are friendly and the small cafe is very cosy.

            Category: Coffee Shops
Haven't been to the shop for about a year now, but we've been re-visiting the shop twice in the past week!

Our favourite is still the signature Fish Meat XO Bee Hoon (about $12 for two) and the Prawn Paste Chicken (虾酱鸡). The former is a hearty portion of thick noodles swimming in a flavourful broth with a good dash of XO. The alcohol isn't overpowering and the generous portions of chunky fresh fish makes the dish a good staple.

Accompany your noodles with the crispy (and very hot) Prawn Paste Chicken which has a nice flour coating. Goes well with their signature chilli sauce too.

The Fish Meat Horfun (三捞河粉) seems to be quite popular too, although we haven't tried it ourselves.

*Notice: I was just told that they will be shifting to new premises by the end of Feb 2010. The new address is:

Blk 19A Dover Crescent (Dover Coffee Hub)
            #01-05 Singapore 131019
            Tel: 6778-3691

Will update with a new review after they move.
