Famous for chilli/salted/black pepper crabs, steam fishes and steamboat
Since previous review were so well written, my wife and i decided to try out at the stall. Went there on last sunday. Coffeeshop was so packed and i could spot more than 90% people eating zhi cha. either it's really famous or people trying out after reading reviews here just like my wife and i.
Waited for approx 10 mins for tables. In addition, i waited almost half and hour for my food ! nearly fainted ! Overall, what i can only say is, the chilli crab... SOLID ! didnt get to try the curry fish head and steamboat(would try during next visit). Only ordered crabs, kang kong, and deer meat around 60 - bucks(can't really remember). worth it! because the crabs, are huge man ! juicy and tender crab meat i should say. The chilli crab gravy goes along well with buns. Should try !
Well, to conclude, i would say that the food is nice and price reasonable. BUT... remember to reserve table before going on weekends. If not, be prepared to wait..
Here to write a review after going there to eat yesterday night. Was browsing thru yebber to find good place to dine and came across makan boy's comment. Called my relative who stay around bedok area to check this place out. To my surprise, my uncle tell me that this zhi cha stall is quite famous at the bedok area. Thus, decided to try out with my family and since it is also my mum's birthday.
** To correct the shop address, it is at BLK 56 NEW UPPER CHANGI ROAD not Changi Road. Lucky i called my uncle to check.
Was greeted by the waitress when we reach. All staffs include kitchen staffs wear a standardize white uniform that makes me feel quite neat in overall appearance.
Browse thru their menu and ordered their famous chilli crabs and salted egg crabs, 2 each. A curry fish head and some other dishes. Even my fussy wife who only eats restaurant crabs, finishes almost 1 whole salted egg crab alone! So can you imagine how nice it taste? As for their curry fish head, it's quite delicious. There isn't any indian curry taste or smell. Typically curry that we singaporeans loves!
Besides commenting on their crabs and fish head, i would also like to compliment their Yu Piao Gen(think is something like fish skin, not so sure) it taste like shark fin soup ! Small kids will sure love it. And it's very Cheap. Think is around $6-$8 for a big bowl.
Last but not least, the bill is rather reasonable to me ! Considered cheap! My mum even thinking of celebrating mother's day at choon heng's place seafood next year instead of having it at a restaurant we normally dines.
To conclude, this zhi cha stall is worth trying! A place where restaurant food standard is served with a cheap zhi cha price tag. Will definately patronise there more often.
