Located at China Square food centre, this fried fish soup stall was formerly located at Blanco Court ( The present Raffles Hospital ) and that is why the name remain as Blanco Court fried fish soup.
I frequent this stall during the blanco court time with my collegues. It was so delicious that I can even take the same food for a few consecutive days. There was no queue at all ( because queuing is not neccessary at that time ) but you can see almost every table with at least one person waiting for it.
The soup was tasty and the fried fish is fresh.
At China Square, you can still see many ppl queuing for it, but somehow I find that the standard drop slightly. It is still tasty as compared to other stalls who try to inmitate it.
But the soup is less tasty now and the fried fish is not as crispy as previously.
However, I still like this until I can find something better.
I used to take my lunch here when my office was at Macpherson road. Now I hardly eat from this stall because it is a distance from my present office and I have forgotten this place totally until I saw this post.
To my understanding, this stall is run by a family and the mother is the main cook. That reminds me of my home cook meal in the good old day. It has around 20 dishes and I have tasted more than 10 dishes throughout the years. However, my favourite dishes is around 7, it includes fried egg, steam fish with ginger, spinage with dried silver fish, cabbage with dried prawn, otah with chilli and sadine. In fact, they have better dishes than these such as fried chicken, pork leg, black soya sauce fish etc. But I like these simple dishes because the way she cook is so different from other porridge stalls. All dishes look fresh when display on the shelf. From the look of it already boost our appetite.
All dishes are common and simple but they just taste good from this stall. Mainly because the food here are clean, fresh, warm and 'healthy'. The only setback is the price. They are more expensive from other stalls although it is value for money.
Happen to past by and decided to give it another try after so many years. I wonder whether this is the same stall at Allenby road many years back. But it seems that there is another stall with the same name ( but w/o the first word Cheng 正 ) at 01-34 in Eminent Plaza.
The chilly is still as good as before. The soup is a little salty and sweet. But is definitely more tasty than many other stalls. The meat ball is nice and others are ok too except for the liver which is a little below standard today. It is hard and does not look fresh. May be it is over cooked.
It is quite a good location for them. Not enough parking space so that everyone will eat and go to avoid 'summon' indirectly create a high turn over for the stall.
I don't think I will give it a five but 4 is definitely justifiable.
It is quite an eyesore each time I made call and saw my Motorola V3X's corroded keypad. I heard many people have the same problem as me and it seems to happen to only motorola's phone. Changing the keypad is quite expensive ( I was told it costs $120 ) and a new phone with upgrade plan may cost about the same. Therefore, I decided to change the phone rather than the keypad.
But there are so many phones in the market, which is a better phone? I started calling up shops based on the advertisment and felt very disappointed with all of them until i Came to talk to this person Agnes from 3g Mobile at Bedok central.
Agnes is very friendly and helpful. I can sense that she was very busy attending to the customer and at the same time talking to me on the phone. However, she did not sound impatient at all. She still talk to me politely and tried her very best to suggest a phone to me. I told her my requirement is very simple, I want it slim and with FM radio. She suggested a few models and explain the different on each model. After a few minutes, she suggested that I go down to her shop in a very nice way.
In fact, every shop said the same thing and I can accept this person's suggestion but not the rest, why? The reason is very simple, all others did not border to ask me my requirement and simply said 'You must come down and choose it yourself' and Agnes say 'Samsung 600 seems to suit your need and you can come down and take a look at the phone'.
Go down to choose it myself is as good as no advice. Go down and take a look at the suggested phone has removed my headache of selection.
I went down at 8.30pm and settled with Samsung SGH-U600 as suggested by her even though I need to pay $498 for a non-3G phone when I can get discount on a newer Sumsung 3G phone.
If you are just as blur as me when selecting phone and you need advice, Agnes may be a good person to talk to.
This optical shop is located just right after you go up from the main staircase to the hawker centre. Although the shopfront is small, it is quite prominent and you should not miss it.
The shop owner is very friendly. He will attend to you for any question you may have. He will advise and suggest the right frame for you if you are not sure what you want. He is also a qualified tester who will test your eye sight and suggest solution.
At times, he can be quite busy and not able to attend to you immediately, but you can take what you want to buy by yourself because they are displayed at a reachable area. Most owners do not like this but it is OK with this guy.
Service is good and price is reasonable. It carries quite a variety of frame, solution and accessories too. Of course, the best part is still the 'on the spot' service which may not be possible in most shops now.
Next time if you want to make your glasses, try this out.

The stall at Eminent Plaza, should be the subsidiary of the original because I tried it once and it tasted the same.
