I'm actually quite surprised that a few of my friends have never heard of the franchise "Botak Jones."

We decided to meet for dinner at the Clementi outlet. As usual, the place was crowded. We had to wait for 20 mins before finding seats enough for the group of us.

I ordered Cajun Chicken and we shared a plate of cheese fries. The chicken wasn't very tender but it was full of flavor due to the spices that were used in the marinate. The good thing about this dish is that it's really quite healthy considering you get a piece of chicken breast without any fat and it's full of protein. Just what I need!
The cheese fries was a huge letdown. When it arrived, the cheese has thickened and it wasn't a nice sauce anymore. I guess it's still edible but the texture just does not feel right in my mouth. Have to admit I felt really disappointed..

Most people usually don't finish their food but I was real hungry that day so I had no problems whatsoever.

Price-wise I think it was reasonable considering the serving size. I think people with a small appetite will have a hard time at Botak Jones. They will leave feeling guilty considering that they will never finish their food! (=

This outlet is the first time I've tried Batok Jones. Heard alot of good comments about it and maybe we got our expectations too high.

Set in a hawker centre, the environment is dirty and due to the crowd there, we sat near the dustbin which made it even worse. Menu looks too cluttered and we took some time to order our food. Customers for that outlet of Botak Jones seems to be few at that time of the day and that time is certainly not a good time for eating heavy western food in great or should I say humongous portion.

Not much of an impression of the food there though I should give credit as the Fish and Chips was nicely done. I found the sausage too salty though and nothing special except its size. Meat seems to be the better prepared type of food there.

Not too bad but nothing special too. Given my small appetite, I don't think that will be the place I will frequent as even though the price is value for the portion size, its still expensive if I cannot finish the food.

My umpteenth visit to Botak Jones, but this time round it was to the Clementi outlet which I've never been to. Located at a small coffeeshop just opposite Clementi central, it was madly packed when my gf and I arrived at about 615pm. So much for trying to beat the crowd.

Botak Burger - Having eaten the Botak Burger at least 4 times, I'm not ashamed to say that I don't really see its draw anymore. And the beef patty still made me nauseous after a few mouthfuls even though it did come across as slightly juicier this time round. The bread was a little dry and hard, which made things even worse. I guess I'll stay off this for a bit.

Fish & Chips - Now the fish & chips exceeded expectations taste wise but the fish was rather thin under the crispy batter. This dish was quite a pleaser when warm, but once it turned cold, it became almost unpalatable as the batter tasted of reused oil. So be warned.

$12 isn't too expensive for a considerably decent meal, but factor in the wait time of 20-30mins and its a forgone conclusion, for me at least. I guess I won't be back anymore, especially when the prices have just increased.

Ah Botak Jones, the place i go when i have a craving for western food.

The nearest one for me (i'm living in Jurong), is Clementi, so i frequent this outlet alot.

Need i explain about Botak Jones? They're basically a western food stall, which can be found in coffeeshops with well, coffeeshop prices.

They don't have GST or service charge, and their portions are pretty big.

They offer a variety of food types from giant sausages, lamb chops, chicken, to your traditional fish & chips, wings and so forth.

As I mentioned before, i've eaten Botak Jones so many times i've lost count, yet i still have to comment on my favourite dishes.

          1) Swanky Franky - Your choice of a chicken or beef giant hot dog, wrapped up in cheese and bacon in a sausage bun with tomatoes and onions, and comes with fries as well. This dish costs $10 and comes as a set only, but everyone whom i recommended this to can either never finish their food, or finish it with a grin on their faces! 2 thumbs up for this!

          2) Botak Burger - A burger with beef patty and fries if you order the set. The specialty is that you can have up to 3 patties (its called the you-crazy-what), and there are quite a number of add-ons you can have in the burger, like shitake mushroom, cheese, bacon, egg, and so forth.

Personally, i tried the you-crazy-what 'challenge' and i couldn't finish it Its just too overwhelming! Too much beef!

          3) Fish & Chips - For the person who doesn't think he/she can eat too much, a small fish & chips is enough to fill you up. Their tartar sauce is really great, and their serving is more than adequate. $5.50 (i think)for small (2 big pieces of fish), and $9.50 (pretty sure)for another piece of fish. This beats Long John's Silver's anytime!

One sad thing about Botak Jones is that wastages can often be seen, and that's why they've reduced the fries portion to half of what they used to give. Worry not however, for you can always request for the 'original' portion.

If you're coming here in a large group, do come earlier to book seats. This place gets really crowded on lunch and dinner times, and not to mention weekends too.

If you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?

Botak Jones offer authentic American style, restaurant quality food. The food quality is the same or better as any full sevice restaurant. Saying this, it also takes the same amount of time a restaurant takes to prepare your food as all of our food is cooked to order. This means your meat doesn’t hit the grill, your fish isn’t fried and your salad isn’t tossed until you placed your order… “

Quoted from the botak jones menu (a long list of menu typed-print in yellow papers). Mister Ang, Mister Ong and me reached the place at around 130pm, not really a long Q, but can see that most of the people in the coffee shop is eating botak jones. Actually we wanted to visit Botak quite a long time ago, but just didn’t had the opportunity, was always going to some other places for meal. We waited for about 20 mins or so for the food to come.

Botak Jones most popular item, or so they claimed. Premium pacific dory ($6) not the cheap cream one (also claimed by them), season the fish and bread it with japanese bread crumb. The servings are generous, with lots of fries and big piece of fish. 4 out of 5

Rosemary lamb chop - medium well ($11) Ordered this because the rest order the other two already, so i though i try something different. The lamb chop was quite good i suppose, tender, fatty, juicy and delicious. But the price was rather on the high side 4 out of 5

Cajun Chicken ($7) Second most popular item (claimed by Botak), chicken breast grilled with cheese and toppled with spicy cajun sauce. I though this was pretty good, but then i don’t really fancy chicken breast meat, prefer the thigh : ) 3.5 out of 5

In conclusion, Botak Jones is the western type of restaurant found in our daily coffee shop, comparing it to restaurant, you will find the price reasonable cheap, considering it with coffee shop, you will find the price expensive. Restaurant or coffee shop? Your choice, your call.

All-American beef burgers, with large juicy patties and fries on the side. It’s what I would go for when I want to eat a huge filling burger. The portions are bigger than what you would normally get in Singapore (Think: Carls Junior) as the beef patty is very filling and is enough to feed 2 people.

The wait time is about 30-45 minutes on average, during meal times. It might not be somewhere you would want to go to when you want your food fast but your patience would reward you (and your stomach) with a rather huge portion at “higher than coffee shop prices”.

Other types of Western food such as Salmon, Steak and Fish & Chips are also sold but Botak Jones main draw would probably be their burgers.

Something else you might want to know:
This eatery was first given media attention due to the employees they hired at their Ang Mo Kio branch- teenage Caucasians. Seeing Caucasian teenagers work is not commonplace in Singapore and to witness them working in coffee shop or hawker centre conditions is another thing out of the blue.

i went to try this last year feb.

the food was only average to me. 4 of us each picked 3 from the menu. which includes cajun chicken, fish and chips and the beef steak. we also ordered one more fries. everytime i think about it, it makes me felt full. the portion was very big. or should i say huge? the chicken wasn't marinated very well. it's quite tasteless to me. fish and chips are ok. and beef steak are ok.

we waited about 45 minutes. i think it might be becos of the amount of ppl there. there are a group of 20 students. and there is a queue to order. after ordering, you will still have to wait.

the staff are bubbly and cheerful.

i might not return back again. 1 time experience is enuff.
