Was walking around Jurong Point Shopping Centre after my dinner today. Just when i walked pass the Crystal Jade Kitchen, i saw that they actually have set up a cakery and bakery section at the corner of the enterance.

The concept of a bakery shop right inside the restaurant is pretty new to me. I actually pondered for quite some time if i should really take a step in, as i am afraid that i will have to eat some stuffs in the restuarant first before i am allow to buy their breads.

Well, guess i should not worry too much. The waitress standing at the door did not stopped me from entering the bakery shop (although she hoped that i will go to the restuarant instead) after all.

Ok, this is a typical hong kong style of bakery. Why do i say that? That is because you can find most of the hong kong items there -- 2 of the most popular items will be the egg tarts and bo luo bun.

I do not really enjoy eating their egg tarts as i feel that the eggie crust is abit of too thick (i like thinner crust) and its not flaky enough. Besides the crust, its inner egg filling do not have a strong fragent eggie smell.

They have two different kinds of bo luo bun, one with fillings and one is plain. Personally, i loved the one with fillings more. Crispy yellow colour crust filling with nice char siew fillings (barbeque pork) is a great combination. I also like their poportion of char siew in the bun, its just right that i can even savour char siew till the last bite of the bun.

I would also like to recommend another bread from them. This bread may looks ordinary from the appearance but the fillings inside the bread is really nice. Its called the hong kong cocktail bun. No, the bread do not contains any cocktail, rather it contains a mixture of coconut and butter. You will be able to taste the strips of coconut when you eat the bread. A definite must try item.

They also sells chicken wings over there, as one kind of finger food i guess. A very popular food among the customer as 3 out of 5 will be sure to order that. These chicken wings are not those golden brown kinds but rather a hinch of uniform red colour is seen in them. Well, since i have already taken my meal, i decided to give them a miss.

A pretty decent bakery shop for you to try out something special, something of an extraordinary flavour.

This is bascially one store that i will never fail to visit whenever i pass my bugis junction. Even if i am real full or just have my meal, i will still grab a stick or two. Very tempting, i can say. hahaha...

This shop is more of a finger food kind of eatery rather than a main course restuarant thus given its location (directly opposite of the basement 1 food court), they can still managed to bring in quite abit of customers.

Tori Q is basically similar as our local satays but with a japanese flavour in it. Personally, i find the cooking method of the tori Q rather amusing. It is not those common kind of cooking method like frying, steaming or stiring.

They basically skew up bits and pieces of meat into individual sticks and will click each stick onto the skewer holder. The skewer holder will then complete the rest of the cooking by doing three things:
      1) to cook the skewed pieces meat to its perfection
      2) to rotate the meat to ensure thorough cooking
      3) to dip the meat into the required sauce

Lastly, the cooked skewed meat will then be dipped into teriyaki sauce before putting on the tray for sale. I was particually impressed on how they can capture the cooking time of the meat soo accuratly. Imagine each of the skew meat will be cooked after completed one cycle. Impressing issn't it?

Their varieties may not be alot but those common ones can be easily found like pork, chicken and beef. I particually like their chicken balls (chicken balls are made up of minced chicken shaped to a ball like shape).

The outer crust of the chicken ball is crispy with abit of burnt smell but the inner layer of the chicken is very juicy with the sweet marinated taste of the chicken. With the additional teriyaki sauce added to it, these chicken balls tasted extremely tasty. I can easily eat 5 sticks at one go. Go on and try them out now, you wont regret!

Was walking along orchard road and suddenly my hunger pangs strikes despite just completed my bowl of noodles. hahaha... Oh well, i decided to walk down to the takashimaya food court and see if there is something light to stop my hunger pangs yet wont be too filling for me.

Theres actually quite a good varieties of food stores selling different flavours of food. Since i just took my lunch and wasn't really interest in the main course, i did not take too much notice of them.

Just as i was thinking if there are anything light enough for me, i stumbled into this particular store. Ok, in fact i saw the long queue and decided to join in the queue thinking that the food must be good (if not who will want to queue?).

This store is called takopachi (typically japanese name) and they sells 3 flour balls for a standard price. You can actually get the entire view on how they prepare the flour balls. Seriously by looking at the way they cook their flour balls really interest me.

First, they will spread one layer of oil onto the special hot plate with lots of semicircles. Next, they will input some flour and add in some ingredients. They have only 3 types of ingredients to choose from which i think its pretty little. These ingredients include prawn, octupos and bacon plus cheese.

They will then procced to fill up the semicircles with more flour and let it cook. Once the other layer is cooked, they will start to turn the flour balls with two sticks till its cooked thoroughly. Its pretty amazing to see how they can use just two sticks and turn the flour balls so smoothly. Rather impressing i can say.

I ordered the bacan and cheese takopachi. Initially, i wanted to try out all three flavours so i asked them if i can 3 different flavours of ball instead. But they refuse to sell it to them. Disappointed.

They added some sauces (taste like mayo and teriyaki sauce) to make the flour balls taste nicer. They also added in some fish flakes which i simply loved their chewy feeling. Alas, they only give a little bit of those.

Was rather disappointed with their flour balls as their outer flour covering is super thick and i can hardly see any ingredients in there. Basically i think i am just eating flour balls. hahaha...
At the price of sdg $2 plus for 3 flour balls does not seems really worth. :(

Heard of Tang Shui? Tang Shui can be considered as a chinese dessert. Unlike cakes, biscuits and chocolates, tang shui are usually in the form of water based and usually have benefits of reducing heatiness in your body.

Mei Heong Yuen is located in anchorpoint at alexandra. This particular shop is rather different from its neighbour as this shop has an oriental flavour decoration (take a look at their wooden table and chairs and you will know why).

This particular shop is pretty small thus chairs and tables are packed very close together in order to include the maximum number of chairs and tables. This tightly packed arrangement actually brought quite a bit of dis comfort to its customers (imagine seating very near someone whom you do not know).

Their tang shui varieties is not alot however those common ones you will find it there. Eg: almond hu, sesame hu, peanut hu, ginko barley, etc). These tang shui are served in a small pot (another oriential feel item as they have some chinese drawings on the pot itself).

One of their tang shui speciality is the mango dessert with strands of pomelo and tiny sagos. This combination of dessert gives a very refreshing fruity after taste, which i loved it very much.

Beside tang shui, mei heong yuen also sells some tim sum. Types of tim sum includes chee cheong fun, rice dumplings, yam cake and my favorite pumpkin cake.

Pumpkin cakes is actually quite rare nowadays, probably due to the tedious work to make it. Reason on why i love it compare to the yam cake is that pumpkin cake has leaves a sweet after taste. Try it and you will know what i mean.

Priced from sgd$2 for the tang shui and tim sum. Their portion is pretty small thus will not really recommend to eat it as a main course.

Do you know which place is most famous for its nasi lemak and which place will always connect with laksa? Should not be too difficult to guess right?

Holland Village is famous for its nasi lemak. Well, most probably its due to the channel 8 drama that has leads to its popularity. Katong is famous for its laksa, which is probably the place where laksa orignate from.

Imagine if these two pouplar is going to combine together, i believe customers will definitely loved it. I actually stumbled upon this particular store in Holland Village (usually very packed during lunch hour).

Its probably more of a coffee shop then a restuarant as there is no aircondition (which most restuarant have) and neither does it have nice chairs and tabled (restuarant should have them).

Due to the limited space available, tables and chairs are usually set up at the road side. Got to really bear with the vehicles smoke and noise at times. But who cares about all these when good food is right in front of you?

This shop basically sells only 2 types of food, that is the nasi lemak and laksa. What i like about their nasi lemak is the lots of varieties to choose from. Take for example, vegetable already consist of 5 different types in their menu (includes long bean, curry vege, cabbage, etc).

I particularly love their pork chop which is i think its marinated very well. Surprising it is rather soft and it gives a perpery after taste. Makes me craved for more.

However, i am pretty disappointed by its curry vegetables. I can only see two different types of vege in the curry which is the long bean and the cabbage. Not even a slice of orange colour carrot is seen.

Whats more, this curry vege is placed on a cooker to ensure the curry remains hot. But it turned out to be cold when i tasted it. I wonder if they put the cooker there just for illusion purpose?

What is the most determinant factor in the nasi lemak? Definitely is the chilli!! A good chilli will bring out the super taste in the nasi lemak and will make people come back for more. Their chilli is basically not hot at all and even have a sweet after taste! Just how can chilli be not hot at all?

Overall, i still think that their nasi lemak is not really that fantastic after all. Their portion of food is not enough to fill me up as well. Thus, i have to resorted to some more food after that nasi lemak.
