My most favourite cinema islandwide must definately be Cathay Cineplex (The Cathay)..
Why do i love this cinema so much?
The fact that i live in Tampines and there are already 2 cinemas at Tampines Central. GV and Century Cineplex. I could choose to travel only 30 minutes to this 2 cinemas but more often or not, i choose to travel 45minutes from my house to douby ghaut just to see a movie.
They have the Grand Cathay in there which is as twice or thrice as big as normal cinema size, normally, it will show those blockbuster movies so that more people can be accomodate into the theatre.
The seats are also staggered much higher than other cinemas so when i watch movies, i would not see black shadow heads in front! Other smaller theatres are also as brillant as well!
One more thing, the seats are roomy and comfy, me and my boyfriend would like to ask for Row C corner seat as it's easier to get out and it's couple seating! Very very spacious!
I've tried sitting in first row as well, my neck is still perfectly fine after the 2hour show as the screen is very far away from me.. i don't have to purposely move my body forward..
Love their meals and popcorn as well.. They have one of the best sweet popcorn as well and occassionally i would order their baked rice or pasta, normal cinema food pricing, but the food is really good! They will deliver the food to your seats when it's done, so it's piping hot! One of my favourite dessert that i like to order that is the chocolate mousse cake.. You just can't missed it!
Last but not least, entertainment expenses has went up so much right? Using any OCBC or UOB cards will entitle you to purchase tickets at SGD$6 on weekday, SGD$8 on weekends.. No cards yet? Go get a NEBO card and you get to enjoy the same as well..

I had always been a big fan of cathay cinemas for a lot of reasons!
I was there over the weekend for Lust Caution and it was showing at The Grand Cathay. My fav cinema of all, other than GV Max. So size matters ok! Hee....
First to start off there area lot of counters (two on ground floor and 6 on 5th floor) to buy tickets and the service is good and prompt.
Another thing I like about cathay is their popcorn. They have very tasty popcorn! Me jz loving it!
The seats are very plush and comfortable and The Grand Cathay being their biggest cinema. Of cos the leg space is bigger than the normal ones. Being the show start they will ahve a little ceremony to open the curtain to reveal the large screen. Haa...
The screen to the soundsystem is flawless. I totally enjoyed my every show there. I will always make it a point to see if there is any show showing at The Grand Cathay since paying the same amount of $$ for the tickets. Haa....

I was there a few weeks back to watch the preview of Stardust. it was a midnight movie. Though it was showing at 0145 hrs in the morn, it was practically a full house.
Was seated in the Row B. The seats were comfty! very plushy and the head rest were there to support our neck. it is always a good place to hang out, good ambience and environment.
the staff were good. There was a queue behind me as it was a newbie manning the cashbox. her colleague at the ticketing entrance rushed over to aide her. They were both very polite and helpful.
Totally great service and seats!!
the sound system and the effects there were absolutely fab too. I couldnt detect any static.
:) ;)
