seems like cathay is the favourite cinemas of many people, including me! :)

firstly, they have many ticketing booths at different levels so you dont really see super long queues.

secondly, they have a wide variety of food when compared to other cinemas, even though id have to warn that the food arent exactly very nice. but well, think i just cant expect much from a cinema kitchen yah? but i like the part where you can place an order, go get your seat in the theatre and they'll serve you your food later.

thirdly, its very spacious with comfortable seats. especially the awkward part where you have to go to the restroom during the movie, the spacious part makes it not so awkward anymore. at least you need not worry much abt stepping on others toes.

lastly, its much cleaner when compared to many other cinemas. even the restrooms look welcoming! but i always have this embarrassing problem, which is, on the way out from the ladies back to the main area, the route is pretty confusing i always end up just outside the gents (which they dont have a door) and the guys getting out will be giving me a weird look while i try to hide my face somewhere.

oh yah, do any people agree that the carpark is too challenging for amature drivers, (like me)? :P

Yes! Totally agree that the carpark is a tad too narrow.

Between GV @ PS versus Cathay @ Handy Road, I think the latter is clearly my favourite due to the following factors:

Quiet and less jostling with crowds I m not sure about you but its definitely more peaceful watching a movie at Cathay as compared to GV. I think the crowd at GV is definitely 3 times more than Cathay given any day and who needs to get through noisy school kids bawling babies so that you can get to your ticket booth safely?

Niche movie selection Cathay has Picturehouse which showcases all the art farty movie that you cant really find at the rest of the movie theaters. One interest point is you can't really bring in food and drinks when you are watching a movie at Picturehouse. Guess the folks at Cathay dun want you to mix art and food together? Or probably it could be due to the nice cushy seats they have at Picturehouse which they do not want you to dirty.....

It's clean! I like the fact that the whole building is in white and white flooring which make the whole place looking pristine and elegant... And I have no fear when I have a no 1 or no 2 coming along because the toilets are pretty clean ( which is also due to the smaller crowd there). On the other hand, GV@ PS looks kind of dark from the entrance to the cinema halls. I m not sure if this is a deliberate effort by the GV folks so that patrons will get use to the amount of light in the theatre?

Anyway, given any other day, I will choose Cathay@ Handy over its rival. Of course, one minor shortcoming ( for those who are using MRT) is that you have to walk a little distance to reach Cathay but in my opinion, its worth it!

This is my fav cineplex among the many out there. To start off with, I will always buy my tickets online and the ease of use for the online booking systems is simply wonderful!

The seats are new, big and comfortable and the leg space is fabulous for a tall guy like me. A cinema like Lido will not do for me as my knees will be touching the seats in front of me, but not The Cathay!

And who can forget the wonderful art house, indie movies that Picturehouse host periodically.

Oh and my fav Ben and Jerry's is there!
