The ticketing counter is abit blended into the background at level 4. Meanwhile the entrance is abit far from the main passage way in the whole level. It is situated next to the restrooms, makes it stink in a way.

The ticketing counter could have been better, perhaps with a separate counter for patrons who just wish to purchase pop corn or drinks only. I would recommend some counters at the ground level of Downtown East E!Hub for selling of tickets only, just like those in The Cathay and Cathay Cineleisure.

One thing to note, the staff was abit slow in serving the queue too, causing long queues in front of the counters half an hour before all the movies start. They do provide those special service whereby patrons place order for food or drinks first at the counter and receive them later in the cinema. However, with such long queues around, how to even place an order at the counter?

I had my show at Hall 4. Very comfortable seats. I always find seats at Cathay Cineplexes more spacious and comfortable at those at Golden Village. I had neckaches when I watched movies at GV Vivocity, but never encounter such thing at Cathay, including Cathay Downtown East.

The cinema is a bit hard to look for, given that it is at the new section of Downtown East. From Pasir Ris interchange, there are a lot of buses which stopped at the first bus stop from the interchange, but if you go into the buildings from the first bus stop, you will find yourself lost, as the side entrance goes to the old section of Downtown East.

And the design of the ticket office is quite bad. We were using the UOB credit card where we are entitled to a few popcorn for every pair of tickets purchased. So although we bought the tickets earlier, we decide to pick up the popcorn (and buy drinks) just before the movie starts. But the whole ticket office *** pop corn store is packed. It is also very confusing as some of the counters allow both pop corn and movie tickets purchase and some of the counters are for one only.

Wouldn't recommend this outlet, unless you are trying to save and is using UOB credit card.

Caught a late night show at the new Cathay cineplex at Downtown East. Arriving at the cinema level, I knew it's not going to be as good as the original The Cathay at orchard. Obviously this is one of the smallest Cathay around their cineplexes.

The cinema I went to was no. 3. It was relatively small but leg room was sufficient but not as wide as those at GV vivo. I've to disagree with genesis with the seats. After 100 mins of watching the show, my partner and I both suffered from neck ache and strain. We were seated on Row E, which's still considered among the back rows. The seats were uncomfortable and we were blocked by the couples in front of us. (Not alot thou, but still we can see their heads popping above the seats.)

Unlike GV cinemas, cathay still only provides "couple seats" with reclining arm rest at the 2 back rows. So if you're looking at getting some cuddling, especially for horror shows with your girlfriends, you might want to book the tickets in advance.

Another inconvenient thing about this Cathay is the toilet. It's located outside of the cinema and boy it was wet and dirty! Although the place is still pretty new, but the toilets were badly maintained. Guess the crowd overpowered the frequency of toilet maintenances.

Although the place is not up to our standard as compared to other Cathay and GV cinemas, we'll probably still go back for movies at nights. Reasons? Well, it's nearby our homes and the open space public parking outside is free after 10pm!
